Locking on target?

During the tutorial that sick dude says you can lock on targets by putting your crosshair on them and pressing middle mouse button.

That never worked for me. Any clues?

It's pretty finicky, and the crosshair doesn't change to give any indication, but it works exactly as the instruction state.

it changes, as in it stays over the character you locked onto. and your dude keeps facing him.

I never used it. It is not needed and pretty buggy. Don't even bother.

Works great for me and helps alot. Especially because you can log on to somebody while using shift who would be out of sight, then storm around the corner and shoot them.

It could do with a bit of work but it does work and it can be useful. I never use it when in middle of a fight, but it's very handy for starting things off.

This is a very VERY useful feature (especially in the late chapters). And if it doesn't work, you actually have to click down on the middle mouse button (not scroll). HINT: Think enemies around corners.

i used it a lot. works great, i have no problems with it. i would love to see that you can bind this action on anoter key!

Yeah I can see it being useful but sadly does not work for me. Should try remapping my mouse buttons or s.th.

Seemed to work fine for me when I tried it. Never use it though, doesn't fit with my fast and loose gameplay style ;)

I'm also looking for a way to bind to a different lock key. I can rebind the "E" key to middle mouse button using a command in linux and use it while in game. But i would love to have a setting in game for that.

TL;DR: CLEAR YOUR MOUSE KEY BINDINGS IF YOU HAVE ANY, YOUR MIDDLE MOUSE BUTTON HAS TO BE SET TO DEFAULT "MOUSE3".
I had this problem and stublmed upon this thread. After a while trying to figure out what's wrong I remembered that I had rebinded my middle mouse button in the Steelseries engine. Changed it back to "mouse 3" and now it's working!
And it does have a visual effect: Your crosshair will lock on to the enemies head and turn red!
