Steam overlay in Hotline Miami

Is there any way to get the Steam overlay to work in this game yet? I absolutely loved what little I've played of it, but frankly it's too much of a pain in the ass to have to minimize the game constantly if I need to reply to my girlfriend or friends or I need to go on the web for whatever reason. I also love being able to see achievements pop up WHEN I unlock them, instead of looking through my unlocked achievements later and being like "Oh, when did that happen?"

Basically, I would love to play this game all the way through. But not without overlay. Is there a way to get overlay working in-game yet, or is there a planned fix on the way?

Unfortunately not, as far as I'm aware it has been disabled by the devs as it previously incurred a number of issues.

Well, damn. Thanks for the info. I hope they get it fixed sometime in the very near future. I've heard rumors about them already working on Hotline Miami 2, but frankly they should be working on getting the first one working right before thinking of a sequel.

Adding it as a non-Steam game makes the overlay work? Well that's a bit ironic haha. Would the achievements still pop up while in-game that way though?

I don't think they will, I'm also unsure whether this method will effect how the achievement progress is updated in the respective .dat file. If you notice that any achievements are not being unlocked please post here, I'd be curious to find out.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that achievements would get messed up in one way or another using that method. I'm not sure I'm even willing to bother trying it that way. I just hope they fix it soon, because the lack of overlay is a huge issue for me and many others. Frankly I wouldn't have purchased it for full price right after it came out if I'd known this was going to be an issue.

Yeah, it's been months and months since I originally posted this and still nothing. It's a great game, but frankly it's rather pathetic that they seemingly haven't even tried to fix the overlay issue.
