Me & Hotline Miami - Bikers Portion of The Game & Why I Won't Be Playing Anymore
Hotline Miami
I got Hotline Miami earlier this evening and all hours clocked into my game are from one continuous session(with mild breaks in-between for sandwiches and what have you). That's how instantly hooked I was on this game; the story was great and every phone call led me to want to complete the chapter to pick up the next phone call. On & on eventually I get to the boss chapter labeled 'Showdown' I believe and completed it and the credits roll.

Jumping right into the next chapter after the credits scroll, I am now playing the roll of Biker, the man you beat up as Jacket as you see him hacking the computer for more information about these phone calls. First level rolls on as Biker and you come to a Chinese shop of some sort and from there you beat on some more dudes; mind you now you cannot pick up enemy weapons & at the time I only thought this was part of this first level as Biker. Level completed, then after in my apartment to again; answer a phone call/message. Next level starts and once more you are left with 3 Throwing Cleavers to spare and one to keep for the remainder of the level.

At this point I've turned off my game read a little bit on the Hotline Miami on IGN on why this new found character Biker refuses to use enemy weapons. Come to find out after reading said page; you are not 'allowed' to pick up weapons as this character.

From this point & after then realizing you cannot pick up weapons as Biker, I come to some sort of understanding with myself that yes the developers intended to increase the difficulty like any other game; the second time around is always the hardest. But this is not hard; this is foolish. You literally took what was a very vast portion of the game(See list of weapons available in game), away from the players. I was immediately turned off by this game at this point and I have zero desire to complete the game as Biker now knowing that all you have is the Cleavers.

Something I guess I'll never understand. But I leave here for discussion amongst the community.

Do you think it was foolish to remove weapons for the second play through of Hotline Miami?

Biker is not that much psychopath or mentally disorted person like Jacket. He's just the person involved with some murders but has some morality and understanding, other thing is skill. Jacket is spree killer since probably childhood and teen years, degenerated to the roots and not in any way normal person, so it has more experience and blood instincs involving killing, so the tools of murder. Biker is sane but kills because he has too. Jacket is like savage animal that hunts, predator that kills and almost like doing so. So in game there's marked clear border between them in actual gameplay.

The "Biker" part of the game is shorter and more "story" orientated. You find out more about what is going on and why than you do as "Jacket" -- the fact that he speaks is a big hint that you are playing as an established character who has his own preferences.

Seriously, you should play the rest of the game.

Complete his story, it takes no time at all and adds some closure to the game. Get all game secrets first though, then you'll get the true ending.
