Can't play updated mode.

Title says it all. I can play normal mode just fine like I always was, but when I try to start the game in Updated mode, the window closes and nothing happens. A few seconds later my Steam status will go back to just online. I have no idea whats going on, and I'd really like to try the Updated mode, I was waiting for them to do a patch for this game to fix all the annoyances that I had with it, and I'd like to see if they finally did. Does anyone know why this is happening?
I don't think this is a problem with my specs, but I'll find what I can:
CPU: 8 Intel Core 17 -3770k CPU @ 3.5 GHz
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 7700 Series
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate
I have no idea where to find my Motherboard, but if somebody needs that you'll need to tell me how.
Anyway, anybody know why this is happening and know how to fix it? Thx!

I have a few things for you to try.

Right-click on the game in your library -> Properties -> Local files -> Browse local files -> manually run "HotlineGL.exe" (it's the Updated version executable). If is launches successfully, try to exit and run the launcher again, see if the problem persists or not. If it worked manually but not in the launcher, I don't know how to help you to fix the launcher but at least you'll be able to run the game just fine (just create a shortcut). You could even try to add the option "-skip" to the launch parameters (right-click -> Properties -> Set launch options) to bypass the launcher once you have it all setup, see if it works.

If you have NVIDIA Optimus or anything that switches between integrated and dedicated graphics (I think the AMD equivalent is AMD Dynamic Switchable Graphics), make sure the game runs on the dedicated graphics.

If you haven't or that didn't help, update your graphics driver and try again, there's a chance it solves the problem.

If you already have latest graphics driver or that didn't work, then I suggest you upload the file "C:\Users\<username>\Documents\My Games\HotlineMiami\debug.log" on http://pastebin.com/ or something.

It contains information on what happens when you launch Updated version and could help track down the problem.

"The program can't start because OpenAL32.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."
Well this is the first time I've seen this message. Tried the first option you gave me and this came up. No idea how to fix it. Any ideas? I looked it up and I don't remember deleting any OpenAL file. I just reinstalled the game too so I don't think re-installing it will help.

Right-click on game in library -> Properties -> Local files -> Browse local files -> _CommonRedist -> OpenAL -> 2.0.7.0 -> oalinst.exe.

It should solve the problem.
