Some fps cap option in the launcher menu would have been nice. Or no fps cap at all, since there are 100 ways to cap frame rate on PC with external programs if you want to.
That said, even though this is a really fast paced game, the motion of things on the screen is not that fast (since it's 2D top-down), so it didn't bother me too much.
There is actually an option for "desired refreshrate" in my Nvidia control panel, but the only option that is available except for the standard one is "Not available", so I guess it doesn't work for this game at least.
Fortunately, like genome said, even though this is a really fast paced game, it's 2D top-down and you don't really move the camera that fast as opposed to an FPS, so the 60fps lock doesn't bother me too much, I was just wondering. I've finished the game now anyway.
edit: yes, high fps isn't necessary for this game. but it wouldn't hurt either. 120+ fps just makes animation so much smoother.
Yes, prefered refreshrate(English isn't my main language).
Well, if the refreshrate is locked to 60hz in the game, the fps will be locked to 60fps in the game as well. I'm not talking about the option where you change the refreshrate of your monitor. I've selected Hotline Miami in the Nvidia controlpanel(just making sure we're talking about the same thing).
If I lock my monitors refreshrate to 60hz, the game would only play in 60fps. Isn't that true? Do I mix up refreshrate with frames per second in some way?
60 hz means the monitor can physically display 60 fps maximum. However you can still get over 60 fps if it's not locked, which has some advantages but is also a bit wasteful since the monitor can't display all those extra frames anyways.
My Hotline Miami runs the screen at 144 Hz but is locked at 60 fps. It's just a hard coded fps cap.
