Xbox One Controller Not Connecting
I played and beat Hotline Miami last summer, but since then I've acquired an XB1 controller replacing my 360 controller which I played the game with before. I just tried to play and my XB1 controller wasn't being detected by the game at all, and when I tried to change the controls in the options, the words just flicker every time I press any buttons on my keyboard and do not allow me to change the controls. I reset it, uninstalled then reinstalled, unplugged the controller then plugged it in before booting the game, and so far nothing has worked.

Has anyone also experienced this issue?

From the FAQ:
My Xbox controller is not recognized by the game.
First, update your Xbox controller drivers by following the instructions on Microsoft documentation:
Go to "C:\Users\<username>\Documents\My Games\HotlineMiami" and open "hotline.cfg" with Notepad. Check that the line "joystick=1" is present, if you see "joystick=0" instead, change it to 1 and save.

Make sure there aren't any conflicts with other controllers: you can check for controllers in "Control Panel\Set up USB game controllers" (Windows+R -> "joy.cpl"). Unplug other controllers.

If you have installed any virtual device program such as vJoy (which lets you use any device as a fake Xbox controller) it might interfere as well as the game will probably try to use the virtual device instead. Uninstall or disable the virtual devices.

Oh I just downloaded vJoy the other day but I need it for Smash Bros. Melee 20XX. I will definitely check for that "joystick=0" in the hotline.config as soon as possible, I'm just a bit busy at the moment. Thank you for your help!

Disabling vJoy temporarily from the Device Manager and enabling it again when you need it should suffice ;)

Ohh haha, yeah this was my first time opening Device Manager just now, and I can't find it in any of these dropdowns, but I'll figure it out later when I have more time to spend on it
