Game freezes after playing around 30 mins
I manage to play one or two missions but then the game freezes and the program crashes. That's particularly annoying when it happens towards the end of the mission after completing several hard stages. I am playing on a windows 10 laptop with 16GB RAM, i7 6800 and 960M. Any solutions?

You have a laptop with NVIDIA Optimus. This technology switches the graphics card used by your applications. You have to make sure "HotlineGL.exe" runs on dedicated graphics / high performance graphics. Be careful: it must be "HotlineGL.exe" (which is the game) and not "HotlineMiami.exe" (which is the launcher). See this guide[support.lenovo.com].

This should help with the stability issues :)

This sounds like you're playing on the Original version of the game and not the updated version. Don't play on the original version it's glitchy, crashes often, and has many issues.

When I fire up the game I am getting a small windonw promp where "updated" is selected. So I don't think that's the problem.

Also in the future please ssearch what you're asking on the forum before asking it, because this question about the game freezing gets like multiple topics per month

Hi! Can you please give me your "DxDiag.txt", "debug.log" and "crash.log" files?
Thanks :)

How to find "DxDiag.txt", "debug.log" and "crash.log":
DxDiag.txt: Hit "Windows + R" -> Run "dxdiag" -> "Save All Information...".
debug.log: Navigate to "C:\Users\<username>\Documents\My Games\HotlineMiami".
crash.log: Right-click on the game in the library -> Properties -> Local files -> Browse local files.
How to upload them:
Open the files using Notepad.
Select everything (CTRL+A), copy/paste to http://pastebin.com/ and submit.
Copy/paste the link for each file.

Thank you for your reply. I did look into the other posts but did not find something helpful for my situation. I also started looking for the 3 files you mentioned but I can't locate the 3rd one "crash.log". There is no such file in my Hotline Miami folder. Any clue?

It seemed to be working for a while, but it froze even witth the GeForce card active. Kind of annoying. This is the 4th time I am losing progress.

gandalf I have the same problem, do you fix it?
Gandalf Jan 7, 2018 @ 1:14pm
Unfortunately no. I tried all the suggestions here. I read somewhere in the forums that it might be the wireless mouse causing it. I have yet to test this. Other than this I think the game simply needs a patch.

Does anyone know if the devs read this forum?

I just tested the game for over 30 mins and didnt crash. I guess it works. The first time I tried it, I set the dedicateted GPU for the HM exe and not the HMGL file, which is the correct one. I guess this made the difference!
