Windows 10: Xbox 360 controller not working

I recently had to reinstall Windows 10 a month ago and when I tried to play, it wouldn't respond to the controller anymore. It worked perectly before. I tried the solutions written in other topics on this board, driver updates, changing the cfg file, making a file called xbox2, nothing's worked.

I know you've tried at least some of the advice below, but I suggest you check again for points you may have missed (notably checking for other controllers, and checking for virtual devices). From the FAQ:

My Xbox 360 controller is not recognized by the game.
First, update your Xbox controller drivers by following the instructions on Microsoft documentation:

• Xbox 360 controller[support.xbox.com]
  
• Xbox One controller[support.xbox.com]

Go to "C:\Users\<username>\Documents\My Games\HotlineMiami" and open "hotline.cfg" with Notepad. Check that the line "joystick=1" is present, if you see "joystick=0" instead, change it to 1 and save.

Make sure there aren't any conflicts with other controllers: you can check for controllers in "Control Panel\Set up USB game controllers" (Windows+R -> "joy.cpl"). Unplug other controllers.

If you have installed any virtual device program such as vJoy (which lets you use any device as a fake Xbox controller) it might interfere as well as the game will probably try to use the virtual device instead. Uninstall or disable the virtual devices.

Fixed. I just connected my controller to a different USB socket.
