Mercenary Kings is coded in c# and is running on a modified MonoGame branch, which is the reason you need the Mono Framework to run it. You can download and install it from here :

Hi Alx. I know what Mono is, I just tried to be sarcastic. It's just that OSX apps usually do not have this kind of dependency.
I'm an out of use programmer but, isn't c# the native languaje for OSX apps? Why the framework then?
PS. I had to switch to bootcamp to be able to play this game properly :( please, keep the good work!
You are mixing with Objective C which is the more or less native programming language for OSX. It's about the only OS to do so.
