Best Weaponsets!
Hey folks!

So what weapon sets are you using and why? What are the pros/cons??

Id like to share my current set with you.Its the only one that im using and i dont think it will ever be changed.Just because its so great :D
This set has really high DPS basically only depending on how fast you can trigger the shoot button and it does not reload. The shots go through walls and are homing missiles.I dont think there is anything better but id like to be shown that im false :) Well here it is:

Whirlybird+

Receiver: Whirlybird
Barrel: Mobile S-Gun
Magazine: King Cobra
Stock: None
Sight: None
Ammo: Sniper Missile

Bio Mod:

Piercing Ammo (Otherwise you couldnt equip the sniper rocket.)

You are free to choose the secondary bio mod and the proefficience.I recommend to use weightlifting cause youll have fast movement then.and i like that :)

So thats basically it.It deals 920/1840(crit) damage with each shot.Im not too sure about the exact numbers here because it depends on your second bio mod.I think i was using the Punisher+ as seconds, because i mostly use this mod.
The gun fires AS FAST AS YOU CAN TRIGGER and the reload time is 0.04 seconds. So it wont affect you from triggering till your pad/keyboard is broken. My fastest time at the kings of violence for example is 1:45 with this setup.Dr. Neil took 1:22 but i was lucky with his phases there.Usually it takes 1:30.

I want to show you another set i made for "fun/swag" purposes.

Golden Gun+

Receiver: Golden Gun
Barrel: Metal Wolf
Magazine: None
Stock: None
Sight: None
Ammo: any of the AP Ammo.(electric/caustic..)

Bio Mod:

Pierce Ammo

Proefficience:

I highly recommend to use weightlifting on this set just because the golden gun receiver alone weights a TON!

This thing is really funny. It does 4700 crit damage.Thats nuff said^^
I simply dont use this set as main because it reloads. If you try bosses and compare these two sets youll see no reloading is the key to DPS in this game.

And if anyone is interested in showing you PRE violence kings OP sets just ask me.I used one set that i had before the full release and i could easily kill the KoV in about 3 minutes.

So thats it for now.I hope you like this sets and mybe they can help you.Its not that easy to farm all the materials but its totally worth it!

Now show me your sets!

I'm not gonna claim mine is the best, or even great, but I have a hard-on for extreme range and armor piercing and this is the lightest, fastest gun I've come up with so far for it.

HG-35
Class: Handgun

Receiver: Splinter
Barrel: Karabiner
Magazine: Karabiner
Sight: Sabotage
Stock: Crimson Dragon
Ammunition: Armor-Piercing

Pros:
Moderate power (841/1682 damage)
not weak against anything (that I've seen)
extremely long range
pierces targets and walls
no deviation
less than 1 second reload speed (.95s)
lighter than similar long range rifles

Cons:
not as powerful as similar tier sniper class weapons
manual fire
small magazine (5 rounds)
no deviation
not strong against anything

pooderquaste,

I'd like to see those sets just to compare. I just beat VK (barely, and with no lives left), and I'm interested in seeing what I should be at in terms of gun gear.

My favorite guns are Karabiner, M40 Sniper, Tribute Rifle (assault), and Spec Ops Rifle (assault). I haven't run at lategame bosses more than once so I don't have much resource to craft lategame guns like Whirlybird or Golden gun.

If I need firepower I usually use M40 Sniper (7000/mag), maybe use Karabiner mag with mag mod (9000+/mag), or just add mag mod to the M40 (14000/mag) though usually not enough time to fire full mag (20 bullets) at boss.

For a very large portion of the game, I relied on an SMG receiver(Can't remember which, but it was compatable with pierce and came early) with the Termination barrel(Before that, Karabiner) and I think the Striker magazine(The one that was 12 shots with quick reload). I used Caustic AP with it for hurting armored enemies(Regular piercing would have worked just fine).

While a bit heavy with the Termination barrel, a Sprinter mod made the weight not a problem. Reload was really fast (1.5 seconds-ish), and the rate of fire with the 12 round magazine still allowed for long jumps(When you jump and fire downward to generate lift, giving you a pseudo-hover that is usually seen on the Machine Gun).

That gun took me very deep into the game, moreso for its utility than damage. Damage was sub-par, but still serviceable in the temple. By the assembly, it was clearly weak for the area(But STILL usable with proper tactics thanks to piercing).

While it's clearly not the strongest gun, the fact that it lasted for a good portion of the mid-game and to the beginning of the end-game makes it the most valuable gun to me.

I went through a bunch of different guns and parts until I could make a shotgun that used the AP/Shotgun ammo. That's my main gun now(I have to still make some better parts, but being able to use it without needing a compatability mod is amazing).

My setup for farming Dr. Neil, can kill him in under 2 minutes:

Barrel: OCP
Magazine: None
Stock: None
Sight: None
Ammo: Firefly Shot

Bio Mods:
Homing Ammo
Shot Ammo

Proficiency:
Storage

My favorite set as of this moment is

Receiver: Crystalizer
Barrel: Crystalizer
Magazine: Absolute Zero/ King Cobra/ Heavenly Spear (User Preference/availability but they all work well enough)
Sight: Crystalizer
Stock: OCP-90
Ammo: Cryo AP

Bio-Mod: Sprinter+, Geomancer+

Proficiency: Weight-lifting(unless you don't mind Normal Movement else pick whatever you like.)

Great for freezing bosses so you can land more shots than usual before they leave themself open again. Does enough damage so freezing isn't all it does.

You can probably switch out Sprinter+ as well for whatever you like, I just like extra speed.

Cons of it is it's not long range or homing I guess, there's a few enemies that are immune to freeze damage too, none of the bosses are immune to freeze though as far as I know.

Hi.

First: Thanks a lot pooderquaste for that "early version"-setup..:D

But I just wounder if anyone got a great MG-setup?
Mostly I'm looking for one with very short reload but still OK dmg. Is the pulsar worth going for after it was nerf down? I think I saw it with like ,079 in reload before..:)

I used a lot of sniper rifle stuff with selective fire proficiency for most of the game.

Maelstrom is pretty great even thought I didn't know why until I used it. It allows you to able to hit enemies at very strange angles without really aiming for them.

I like the Grim Reaper which is a machine gun with sniper missiles. Usually not a fan of missiles since you need to be at a pretty far distance for the locking on to even work and even then you need to stand at a specific spot. But hey, I'm not saying no to a machine gun with sniper missiles.

My favorite weapon is probably Final Justice with selective fire proficiency. 3 times 1400-1500 damage every burst. There's not much which can stand up to that.

The Crystalliser shotgun was pretty fun. Unfortunately there are no enemies with weakness to cryogenic damage, most of them even have resistance to it.

I actually haven't finished the game yet, and thus don't have access to everything, but so far my best loadout is:

Receiver: Mach-20
Barrel: FA Commando
Magazine: STANAG
Sight: FA Commando
Stock: --
Ammunition: Hollow-Point for general use, elemental for bosses.

Mod 1: Gun Fighter
Mod 2: Sprinter+
Proficiency: Speedloader

This gun unloads bullets like you wouldn't believe. Each shot is pretty weak at 480 per bullet with the reload bonus, but when you can empty an entire clip into your enemy within a second and reload in just over half that time, the damage tends not to matter as much. Maybe I'll fiddle around with more fancy configs using exotic ammo types once I've beaten the game, but so far this fairly vanilla fast-firing submachine gun is working out great.

Kind of realized my original post was a bit ignorant so I'm editing it. I didn't really tinker around with stuff enough before I posted.

To improve upon your whilrybird+ if you just make a couple changes you can get your reload speed down to literally 0 so you don't ever get that annoying clicking sound / small dely between clips. Also, it's basically like having turbo fire if you use the selective fire proficency.

Whirlybird+ (Improved)

Whirly Bird
Moble S-Gun
Payback
--
--
Sniper Missile

Piercing Ammo
Sprinter+ or Punisher+ (I perfer Punisher+ for the extra 200 damage)

Proficency: Selective Fire

Nah the payback isnt really an improvement. The only thing it really does is disable the click sound but you do 80 less dmg with it.I made a video about my setup now and as you can see even with the king kobra magazine there is NO reload time :)

Ummm Payback IS better... and there IS a reload time in your video... I can clearly see it. That click is a visual and audible annoyance.

Not to mention there's a slight delay between your shots and you lose a bullet every volley because of your clip size, which equates to less DOT. This means with King Cobra you're losing 2 shots per second technically.

Also I noticed you started using selective fire... so I think you just don't want to admit I perfected your original setup... ^_^ but that's fine, we all have our pride.

I'm also doing more number damage than you by a bit over 100 points because I have Punisher+ instead of Sprinter+. I don't see the reason for fast movement speed, I beat all the par times with normal speed on every mission. This game play so clunky (stop and go, stop and go) there's really no reason to be able to move like Strider.

My setup is literally the best setup if you want fluid, uninterrupted bullet flow + highest DPS, try it out with Punisher+, you won't go back. It's just a completely broken setup. I beat Dr. Niel in 1:01 or something ridiculous... I probably got lucky with his pattern though because he went to the middle of the room and summoned tentacles 3 times in a row. ^_^

It's also nice to just run through stages mashing the X button, not really having to aim and not hearing, *click*, *click*, *click*. It makes my eye twitch.

Props to you for figuring out the other two mods though, you almost had it... but that's what these posts are for, collaborating with others so we can find the best possible setup.

Collectively we both just broke the game... there isn't any better setup than this... it's literally the ultimate "hit X" to win setup. Kudos to us.
