Deep treath DLC - first boss fight, need help
First boss fight is pretty hard for me.

Especially, the lazer attack is very hard to evade. I have level 1 jump (space), but the jump is so short, that I either press it too early or too late.
Also, since level 1 jump refills in 60 second, I get killed in second round.

Not, in area 1, I don't get spawned this upgrade "gem" anymore. But will keep trying some runs. Feels like the randomizer stops spawning this upgrade "gem" after a while.

Agree. Very hard even on normal difficulty and i usualy play on insane

I don't know if it helps but you can just go through the boss so the laser shots in the opossite direction of where you are, this is also an way of having rocket deal damage before it gets nullified (won't work if boss is in corner though)

Its pretty dangerous. Rockets that he firing will demolish you in milliseconds

Thanks for the tip. Those skills have much smaller cooldown. I'm still getting destroyed, but no at least I can survive more.

However, my rocket are still getting denied by the boss somehow. :-(

But after couple of tries and always failing, I must say: this game became a skill game instead of a slow grind and upgrade game. Grinding 30 min, and get destroyed in seconds due to a 0,1 sec reactiontime...

Unfortunately - even with getting better at jumping (space) for the laser attack, that is not a long term solution. Since it doesn't recharge fast enough for each "round". I mean: laser - jump, rocket - dash, rocket - dash.

And since you get basically 2 shotted by either laser or rocket, this is very-very difficult. I hope the devs will realize, how much "Dark soul" (extreme challenge level) hard this is.

This game was not so much punishing before the DLC. So I definetly don't like this change of "balance" of the game. On normal difficulty, this balance seems waAaay off.

Do you get the Jump upgrade automatically? Because I feel like I don't have it yet, but I have actually beaten the spider boss. Just use your up/down Dash ability when it charges up the laser and zip past it. Using dash gives invincibility frames, so I found the timing required to evade the laser rather generous. Evading the grenade shots that only leave a small zone for you to stand in was a lot more annoying to me...

On top of what was said here which I agree with, the chemical launcher should work great against the boss because it tends not to move around a lot but it hides what the boss is doing which pretty much invites one of the instadeath attacks. This fight really needs balancing.

Edit: I'm pretty convinced the boss invincible. I hit it with a lot and it never even smoked.

I've died so many times upgrades don't even drop anymore. The dialog changes with each death so many you have to die so many times before something happens?

Otherwise I don't know what to do.

You can avoid the laser by using the Hook (going down) or Turbine (going up) going to the opposite side of the boss. It's much less punishing with the timing then jumping.

Did anyone manage to beat this guy yet? Seems to be the biggest bullet sponge in the game. Either it's got more HP then the last boss pre-DLC (except we're stuck with crappy guns for the fight), or I'm doing something wrong here.

Been thinking of trying to hit that red thing that pops out before it activates the shield generator. Hit it a few times before, didn't notice anything special with it and died before I could say it was a decent attempt at breaking it.

Also, been thinking of trying some shenanigans with the "Emergency Safe" upgrade once I'd be done collecting new tech from that first section. Want to see how that works. I'm hoping I'd be able to carry over materials from the pre-DLC area over to the DLC so I could just max out all my upgrades at the start... For what little that'll actually do to help. Crappy starter gun will still be crappy and I'll have to pray I get the two drones in that DLC run to get any value out of those resources. Or at least the gun drone.

Done this.. pretty much useless. Max carry over is 20% meaning you have to do 1 full run pre-DLC to have any meaningful resources next run on the DLC. It will help you get started, but as you said, there are no good weapons present here. Anything else is pretty much useless defeating the boss. The only useful gun you can get is the chemical weapon, but you cannot upgrade it past first tier due to lack of resources and the biggest drawback is that the cloud obscures enemies so you will not be able to see when the boss prepares to fire the laser.

I have a felling that for some reasone overall damage taken is greatly increased, so it isn't just about laser but rather there being some weird 3x damage also you can beat first cloud boss if you're good enough at dodging it's attacks.

It would be nice to keep the pre-DLC weapons.

Only if you stand in the marked impact spots and let them hit you. As stated already, you can always just move past him and not get hit. Don’t know why, but almost everyone seems afraid of touching him.

Alright, so that red thing sticking out of the mech at the start of the fight really seems to be a weak point. Problem is, I don't have the fire power to take it out before it goes back into the mech and I can't seem to figure out how to make it to pop out again. That said, this guy might just need a special method to beat him.

Yeah... Neither of the guns we can get off that first stage in the DLC are suited for this fight. Not being able to see those tells is lethal. We're stuck with the first gun for this fight and it sucks... Just upgraded my missile to deal 12000 damage now. Maybe that'll pop that red thing at the start.

If my next attempt fails, I'll try a farming run on the rpe-DLC area and pray I get the gun drone afterwards. Three maxed gun drones are no joke. They'd let me focus on evasion.
