So just about to finish the first triology.
which is the order of release meaning I am going forward in game mechanics etc.

I think this one then great ace is correct?

For the most part. The first Great Ace Attorney was released between Dual Destinies and Spirit of Justice, and the second released after Spirit of Justice, making it currently the latest game to be released. You can play Great Ace Attorney at any point, though, if you want to get through all of this trilogy first.

the great ace attorney is a prequel with its own cast of characters and is thus divorced from the mainline story - you can play it at any point, it's its own thing!
