Custom Hairstyles and stuff

How do you add custom hairstyles in the editor? I was trying to do something, and i see the stuff made by other people in the workshop. All I am able to do is add triangles and stuff on the normal hair and change the color of them, but i still have a lot of objects only for composing the hair! There's a way to add something in the editor?
