Rogue Trader Pen and Paper RPG veteran here (spoilers)
Hi!
I'm a veteran player of the pen and paper game which this wonderful game was inspired along the other ones (Dark Heresy, Death Watch, etc). There are here and there a few lore bread crumbs, so if you are curious about any lore of 40K, the Koronus Expanse, etc, let me your questions and i will try to help you using my book collection :)

I've got a question related to the tabletop game. How easy would you say it is to learn/teach to a group who have only played D&D?

I picked up the Rogue Trader core book a while back on my quest to find a replacement for D&D, but I haven't started trying to learn it yet.

You do realize you can answer this question yourself with a little effort by reading, you tart

You're right, why would we ever seek information from somebody familiar with a subject when we could just go in totally blind and hope it works out?

Quite easy, the system is not that complicated, yet very in depth, easy to learn hard to master. I learnt Dark Heresy which is exactly the same system just based on an Inquisitors acolytes instead of a rogue traders when i was about 15 or so. Im actually about to run a campaign at work with my workmates and most have never played it though they are all 40k lore monkesy so that would make it easier. The game mechanics can be picked up easy its the knowledge of 40k that is harder to gain if you total novice.

DnD5e is one of the more poorly organised RPGs out there. Even though the various 40K RPGs out there tend to be a bit heavier, the organisation is better.

Still it's best not to think this way. You wouldn't say "I've only played Mario Kart, is it easier for me to get into Doom, or into Undertale". They're different games, but you already know how to use a controller, just pick it up and play.

Unfortunately, they did not specify an edition, so for all we know they could only be playing the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that is 4e or the fever trip that is AD&D 2e. But it is probably 5e. 3/3.5e if they're lucky.

Not actually a big fan of 3e. It was fine in its day, but I've enjoyed 4e and 5e more. My group mostly plays 5e because it's so easy to run, but mechanically it's a pretty boring game and I've been wanting to do something new, that wasn't standard fantasy, for a long time now.
I've got core books for Call of Cthulhu, Rogue Trader, Shadow Run, Cyberpunk, Game of Thrones, Edge of the Empire, Twilight Imperium (Genysis), and Blades in the Dark. Trying to sell the group on one before I really dig in and try to learn it.

If you enjoyed 4e, you're a wargamer.

Not really. Kill Team is the closest thing I play to a "wargame". 4e's combat is great for a tabletop RPG (until it gets unmanageable at higher levels) but the main reason I liked 4e more was that it focused more on the group and less on the individual character than 3e did.

No one can communicate anymore. "Google it". That's what humanity is relinquished to. No wonder our species is failing.

Hi.
Well. It's not the hardest system but it's very different from D&D. The system using in Rogue Trader and the other Dark Heresy series (Games with the same system, Dark Heresy-Inquisition, Rogue Trader, Deatwatch-Space Marines, Black Crusade-Chaos characters, Only War-Imperial Guard) it's MORTAL. The adventures are cool but i don't think they calibrated well the difficultity. The players are going to lost a lot of characters, and not just because the mortality but because the corruption and insanity. If you want to try another one more focused on combat try "wrath and glory

4e only has combat,
That’s not true at all.
