I picked up the Rogue Trader core book a while back on my quest to find a replacement for D&D, but I haven't started trying to learn it yet.
You do realize you can answer this question yourself with a little effort by reading, you tart
Quite easy, the system is not that complicated, yet very in depth, easy to learn hard to master. I learnt Dark Heresy which is exactly the same system just based on an Inquisitors acolytes instead of a rogue traders when i was about 15 or so. Im actually about to run a campaign at work with my workmates and most have never played it though they are all 40k lore monkesy so that would make it easier. The game mechanics can be picked up easy its the knowledge of 40k that is harder to gain if you total novice.
DnD5e is one of the more poorly organised RPGs out there. Even though the various 40K RPGs out there tend to be a bit heavier, the organisation is better.
Still it's best not to think this way. You wouldn't say "I've only played Mario Kart, is it easier for me to get into Doom, or into Undertale". They're different games, but you already know how to use a controller, just pick it up and play.
I've got core books for Call of Cthulhu, Rogue Trader, Shadow Run, Cyberpunk, Game of Thrones, Edge of the Empire, Twilight Imperium (Genysis), and Blades in the Dark. Trying to sell the group on one before I really dig in and try to learn it.
Well. It's not the hardest system but it's very different from D&D. The system using in Rogue Trader and the other Dark Heresy series (Games with the same system, Dark Heresy-Inquisition, Rogue Trader, Deatwatch-Space Marines, Black Crusade-Chaos characters, Only War-Imperial Guard) it's MORTAL. The adventures are cool but i don't think they calibrated well the difficultity. The players are going to lost a lot of characters, and not just because the mortality but because the corruption and insanity. If you want to try another one more focused on combat try "wrath and glory
