Also, after the AI destroyed the merchant ship they just sat still. Did not move, did not fire, did not do anything.. Just had to wait 1 minute for each of their "turn" to pass on.
Can I ask how you all managed to protect the convoy? It seems it dies turn 2 no matter who I take on. Unless my voidship is woefully under powered (rank2, 3 upgrades on hull, no other ships).
I had the additional npc ship by the time I went to protect it, it provided enough addtional targets that themerchant lived
This is all from memory so I may have some of the details wrong but here is what I did.
tl;dr - focus the destroyers first and then the big ships. Torpedos help alot.
I Iaunched torpedos from my starting point facing the destroyers and then went into the destroyers. was able to outright kill one in the first turn they where in range.
The other two destroyers converged on the freighter, took shots and then moved away from the freighter and my flagship while the larger two ships swing around to approach the freighter. The two destroyers were separated by only 1 grid square.
On my next turn I flew the torpedos into the gap between the two destroyers and killed both of them. Then I used the skill for making tight turns and was able to burst down one of the larger ships with my lance, bow gun and a broadside (using the shield pulse to pull the ship out of its holofield when it brought it up). At this point the last ship made a beeline for the edge of the map and if it didn't get stuck there I never would have caught it.
Is this entire quest bugged to ♥♥♥♥??? Am I locked out?
when the last ship runs, you can eventually catch it, at least for me, since it stopped moving. I also had the warp power that redirects/deals damage to that helped.
