Any redeeming qualities to Marazhai?
This being 40k and him being a Dark Eldar, I suspect I know the answer already, but is Marazhai at all worth keeping as a companion? He went crazy and killed a bunch of my people, and I figure he's going to have to keep doing it to stay ahead of She Who Thirsts, and I can't have him murdering my crew.

Does he have an upside? Is his companion quest really good? Does he have a face turn at some point? He's a cool character with good voice actings ... but he's also an unrepentantly evil monster most of my other companions want to kill.

I'm the acceptable loss guy and I can accept this for Cassia due to her role as Navigator in the ship and she gets better control of her ability.

But for Marazhai, where he's intentionally wants to provoke mayhem for ♥♥♥♥ and giggles? Naw.

Marazhai haters are so tryhard, it's almost cute. "I killed him!!" "YEAH I KILLED HIM" "LOL I KILLED HIM!!!" It's like Astarion 2.0, I swear, all the cishet men feeling insecure that someone will find a villain hot.

Um no. Not any of that. I've got no problem with hot.
I do have a problem with someone repeatedly murdering my people, attacking my planet and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on my throne. Having a great voice doesn't change any of that.

Likewise with Astarion. He got killed because I woke up with his mouth on my neck and a wooden stake handy. It was his own damn fault. He died for roleplay reasons of his own devising. Shame really because he was pretty fun prior. Maybe he'll behave himself next playthrough.

Meanwhile Dorian in Dragon Age Inquisition was one of my favorite companions there. Also good looking, funny and had a great voice. And doubly so for Daeran in WoTR who made every scene better just for being there.

Ah ah, of course you killed Astarion! Of course.

Well, I quite enjoyed plunging into murderous madness with Marazhai together, and putting my crew on their knees, it was quite an unusual fantasy to say the least. Yay for game catering to me? You can skip this content if it makes you feel ~uncomfy~, but bless devs for putting it in at all, they have balls of steel.

Some of us, believe it or not, like to have their ♥♥♥♥ stepped on by a hot elf husbando.

Woosh.
What you do with him has no effect whatsoever on my playthrough. I wasn't passing judgement on your reasons. Don't be so quick to pass judgement on other people's reasons.

Marazhai gives ample story reasons to want him dead and take joy in doing it. He's literally written that way.

I mean, same? I'm not passing judgment, I gotcha. He's an evil bastard. Some people want to kill evil bastards, some want to kiss them. Valid either way, you are offered a prompt to kill him so many times during the game, even during his romance, lmao.

The fact that the whole act 3 was because of him (and his, honestly dumb as ♥♥♥♥, plan) made me feel good about killing him myself during the first warp event, I would have end up giving him to the inquisition tbh, even if I don't like them either.

But the character is well writen tho and voice actor is reallly excellent.

I did kind of wish there was a, “What did you expect to happen?” dialogue option after the “trial”. He’s so sure narcing on his sister is going to get her punished; OF COURSE he’s the one who gets F’d over. He must have forgot he was dealing with Dark Eldar.

But yeah, I’d have kept him around if he hadn’t murdered so many of my people and looked like he was going to have to keep doing it. Marazhai is a pretty interesting companion character, and how you recruit him was cool.

BTW, what would happen in lore if you make a servitor out of a Drukhari. Pretty sure some radical inquisitor or dark mechanicum adept has already done it.
Edit: is it only me or the quotations are bugged in this message?

He will be good friend of you, and terrible persone for the rest crew include your team mates.

A good friend? Do DE even understand the concept of friendship?

no, but he can be a very good pet! that's the only relationship he wants, anyway, friendship and love are cringe (his words, not mine)

he's pretty good at stabbing thing and i also find him funny.
P.S. you can choose the option where you lock him in the airlock during warp travel and it works out the best for everyone. no more killing your crew and he builds up resistance to Slaanesh

Well, maybe in a future, less ... responsible playthrough.
Sarkas1704 Jan 15, 2024 @ 1:38pm
