Is gatekeeping really that severe here?

I have been watching 40k stuff and have seen plenty of games on the table. I am not surprised that there are "tourists" and the "elitist" here like any other fandoms. But are the gatekeepers here this insufferable?

Note, I havent bought the game yet, I am still finishing up PF WotR. I just wanna know what the hell is going on here.

In reality, they will happily gatekeep you out of any hobby they took over, for wrong think.

You can neither reason nor bargain with them, you have to gatekeep their scouts out.

Well, if anything, OP, you now have a good sample bite of what to expect on these forums.

Hopefully, it doesn't sour your taste - game is lovely, but very buggy, I'd get it in a year after it gets fixed up. It's very fun if you like Owlcat games, I thought it's super well written, and is probably a good primer into wh40k for those who are unfamiliar with it.

Gatekeeping for Warhammer 40k is a fantasy. For decades, GW has let dozens of creators add new lore and alter cannon. The lore has gone through many revisions over the last almost 40 years. I saw the same fan based frothing at the mouth when D&D went to 3.0. Guess what? In the realm of public business, fans opinions mean nothing, sales numbers do. GW will make changes based on their market vulnerabilities and opportunities, like every other public entity in the global market. Pretending that intransigence towards novelties and purity social media is going to alter or affect GW's business decisions, is incredibly egotistical. It shows me you are not an investor. You want to truly and honestly gatekeep? Invest in the companies you so wish to slap purity tests on. Social media is just virtue signaling when it comes to something as amorphous and fluid as GW's global, open content, space fantasy setting.
