Looking for VERY similar games, mix of melee and ranged with no permadeath, or hard to perma die, but still solid difficulty.

"No permadeath" is a pretty tough ask- unless you mean no forced ironman. Your main character dying means you die in this whole genre, and if you mean something else, I'm probably gonna need a bit of clarification.

... it's been a while. I forgot how traumas worked.

Anyway now that my brain rember, just look for anything by the same developer. Sometimes it's a difficulty setting, but well, just set that to the way you want to play and you should be good.

Try X-Piratez. Technically it's a mod for the original X-Com (Julian Gollop's, not Firaxis'), but if you happen to like it, you won't need another tactical turn-based game for the rest of your life.

Plus, can't beat the price (mod is free, you only need the original 1998 game from steam).

The closest would be the other Owlcat RPGs, Wrath of the Righteous and Kingmaker
