Character got deleted

I'm (was) at the beginning of act 3 and cleaned up my countless saves a litte. Saw, that there were saves with Kibella. Deleted those old saves too. I thought, why keep that empty Kibella folder since she is not my character. Deleting her nuked my own save games completely. I now have no save games at all.

Is this an ugly bug? It is/was not described at all that this would happen. I'm a little frustrated now, will not start from the beginning.

Edit: Letting Steam check the files downloaded some again but my saves are still gone.

Aye, I've made nearly the same exact mistake, but I deleted the Kibellah saves in-game. That had the same result of erasing my other saves under my character's name but those after the Kibellah saves. I didn't end up losing the character altogether because it didn't affect saves prior to that quest where you briefly play as Kibellah to investigate the a genestealer cult smuggling weapons in plasma drive chambers.

Fortunately, I had a save from before that quest, so deleting the Kibellah save didn't totally delete my character, but it did mean that I'd need to replay at least a couple hours of content, which, like you I wasn't really inclined to do, so I ended up simply benching that current character and rolling a new one.

I'm hoping the devs will address this, because it's way too easy for one to accidentally delete a character when cleaning up old saves like this.

Somewhat glad to read I’m not the only one. Unfortunately I had no prior saves. So my game came to an abrupt end. Maybe I play again in a couple of years but that experience soured me quite a bit on owlcat games. How can such a thing happen? Surely pressing delete is my fault. But it was not at all made clear what the consequences of a bit of tidying up would be. It should have been made impossible to delete that empty Kibella character if it means nuking the primary character of the player.

P.S.: I deleted only in game too. Not in finder or anything. Just in the load save game window.
