Game pass can't play with steam?

My friends and I are trying to set up a co-op session using the lobby code, but the steam version is ahead of the xbox version (at least on game pass), and there isn't a way to roll back the version I'm on so I can play with them. Anybody else having issues with this or know a fix?

Unfortunately the only crossplay available is between Steam, GOG and EGS (with some additional limitations for MacOS as described in the stickied thread).

Xbox/MSStore has a different architecture and cannot join them.
