Shimmering Emulsion (+1 PR) on non-psyker
This is probably a dumb experiment, but I just had my non-psyker RT consume the Shimmering Emulsion from the Eurac V lab puzzle. This grants a +1 PR (along with a +30% change for perils of the veil.) To my surprise, it actually gave her a PR of 1. But I'm not sure what use this could possibly be. I did test a generic psyker staff (i.e. it didn't require a specific psyker discipline) but she couldn't equip it. Could she possibly use a force sword, or other equipment that uses PR but doesn't have a hard requirement for psyker training?

Fortunately I do have a prior save I can roll back to, but it might be entertaining to have a non-psyker using psyker equipment. She's a *long* way from Exemplar and Unsanctioned Psyker.

That would have given 1 PR to your RT for when you'll give them psyker power as Examplar. Not the most useful out there but still "available" if needed.

As for the rest, yeah, Force Sword can be used by anyone. Withiout any PR the damage of Force Sword are pretty low and I'm not sure if 1 PR will really be able to change that, but you should be able to.
That's actually a neat experiment! I think you wont see any use out of it until you take the Psyker Awakening in Examplar like the previous poster mentioned. I was shocked to see the results of the Eurac V puzzle were swapped to something actually useful. To me it seems like it's tailor made for Idira, since a lot of her talents seem to bounce off of triggering perils.
Hmm, does Psyker Minoris set your PR to 1, or does it actually add 1 PR?
Unless I'm mistaken, the patch notes for 1.5 state that a change was made making it impossible to use the Shimmering Emulsion on a non-psyker. It isn't supposed to be possible. So if you did it and it worked then that's most likely a bug (or a malfunctioning mod). If you aren't using any mods then I would submit a bug report on it (press <alt><b> in-game) because maybe the latest patch unintentional removed the safeguard against it being used by non-psykers.

It's been quite a while since the Shimmering Emulsion replaced the previous reward for solving this puzzle. A lot of people read it and came to the same questionable conclusion you've expressed here. If you do really want to multiply her chance of triggering perils by seven then you can use it on her, but keep in mind that means seven times the chance that she will just instantly die and be replaced by an enemy demon (to give just one example of the horrible things that she can cause). There are a lot of threads on this forum created by people who used the Emulsion on Idira and then came to regret it, so beware.

Each of the four Psyker [blank] talents add 1 to your PR, rather than setting it to a particular value. This is necessary because a sanctioned psyker starts with a PR of 0 but a non-sanctioned psyker starts with a PR of 1. If Psyker Minoris set your PR to 1 then it would wipe out the advantage of a non-sanctioned psyker.

Oh trust me, I came to regret that decision during The Aurora fight . Back to the bench she goes. I think next time I'll save that for a Psyker RT, or Heinrix.

I did that too after 1.5 and had planned for it from the beginning with psyker awakening in exemplar, on my melee RT. I don't remember any such point for the 1.5 patch.

Scroll down to Patch Notes, then down to Items, then General. The ninth bullet point reads:
Shimmering Emulsion no longer works on non-psyker characters;
Still did work at the time, can't say if it works now.

Yeah, I don't mean to say that I tested it at that time and it didn't work. I just mean that if it ever did work, and if it works now, then it is most likely a bug.
Kinda wish they still let you use it on non-psyker's and having 1 rating early opened up being able to take the 'psychic awakening' talent before becoming an expemplar.
