I was going to just make a simple comment stating that (as someone who has spent literal hundreds of hours taking in the lore and discerning "canon" from "non-canon") Sisters of Battle are not prohibited from relationships. In fact, in a number of 40k stories (I think even a Ciaphas Cain novel at one point), some Sisters have been described as getting up to some fun nights now and then. Also there's a surprising number of Eldar Craftworlds that are trustworthy, and have allied with the Imperium on more than one occasion, even a couple that outright defend human worlds.

I WAS going to just post that...then I saw that the thread was currently occupied with my favorite argument of all... "THIS STORY/GAME/BOOK/WHATEVER ISN'T GRIMDARK ENOUGH, THIS ISN'T LORE FRIENDLY, REEEEE". Oh joyous of joys.

The 40k galaxy is enormous. That should be obvious. It has trillions upon trillions of inhabitants. Yes, most of them are engaged, either actively or inactively, in some form of horrendous conflict or are occupied by the consequences of said conflicts. But a large portion of the day-to-day goings-on in the galaxy aren't full of constant misery, suffering, hatred, fighting, and whatnot. There's a fair amount of positive, nice things that go on in 40k, if you look hard enough. And Rogue Traders, who are infamous for having basically no rules except "Don't harm Imperial worlds, don't touch Chaos, and remember that everything you find belongs to the Imperium", enjoy surprisingly bright lives. They're like privateers, as long as they don't do something explicitly against the rules, they have the freedom to do whatever they want.

If you REALLY look into the lore of 40k, you'll find that pretty much anything can happen. Which just so happens to be entire purpose of Warhammer 40k- for THE PLAYER to make THEIR OWN STORIES. If you want to be a cold, emotionless cog in the Imperium and scorn the idea of relationships, go ahead. Just don't insist that everyone else should be forced to play like you do.

P.S. To that "thunda" guy- Every time I see someone say "go to 1d4chan for all your 40k lore needs" I sigh loudly. 1d4chan is full of memes, exaggeration, conflicts between pages, and it's just not a serious place. If you only read 1d4chan and browse /tg/ you'll end up walking away from it having only gotten a very narrow and joke-filled perspective.
Lexicanum, Luetin09, GrimDarkNarrator, and Oculus Imperia are the best places to go for deep-diving, no-nonsense explorations of 40k's lore.

This makes sense.
I didn't read any book about 40k, but it only needs little COMMON SENSE to know that there must be light and lore about love/joy in 40k or Slaanesh can't survive as a god.

And for those who prefer dark-cold-blood-40k-lore guys, you should try your best to understand that you need the bright side for emphasizing your favorite dark side, or you would only found simply pointless nothing instead of something really cold-blood.

I agree with the entirety of your post. Just because almost everything that happens in the books is grimdark, doesn't mean that there is not a single place in the entire galaxy where people have some common sense.

Also, I would like some more information on those specific Eldar Craftworlds you are talking about.

Another fact to consider: they're called Rogue Trader dynasties for a reason.

Yes, adoption/recruitment outside of the literal bloodline is a thing, as are political marriages, but I think it's safe to say that it strains credulity to eyebrow-raising levels of Grimderp to say that no Rogue Trader coupling or even unofficial mistress/boytoy relationships ever happened or were totally devoid of warm and fuzzy feelings.

People really focus on 40k as a parody. One look at it and a real analysis shows nothing of the kind. There are no real comparisons in the modern day 40k, where as it started as such. So yes, good does happen in 40k. People are artists, cooks, poets and philosophers. Some are proud dads and moms, and some are valiant soldiers. It's not all doom and gloom.

And then the Emperor's Children nation attacked and a bad time was had by imperial citizens

Hardly. Point is it's not all war. It can't be at a fundamental level.
Darx 2023 年 5 月 8 日 上午 9:16
thats true. out of those millions of planets the empire has under its control, the majority of them know war only from computer screens.

I'm glad that message helped people lol. I don't care for Steam awards, but if you want to show your gratitude, then all I ask is that you carry that message forward to other 40k players :)

Heh. There are even furries in 40k.

More or less.

This post is mostly correct.
I also have spent countless hours, since the 80s involved with GW Fantasy then 40k.
All the so called experts who are nay saying Space Marines copulating with Eldar and Sisters of Battle not having relationships are basically WRONG.
The Primarch of the Ultra-Marines, fricking Emperor Jr, is loving an Eldar.

Anyway, in RT the table top game ( the exact one this is based on) allowed for player followers of the Ork, Eldar, and Dark Eldar races, as well as Groot.
We will be having some fun as the RT.
Nuke the Inquisition, quietly, outside the empire, on your capital world for instance (which is set up for you to do at the end of the alpha) and you can have a relatively free reign as long as you can fend off the Xenos, Chaos, and other Rogue Traders,
Have Fun!
Oh and yeah, I have you the ridiculously large award... because I am a noble Rogue Trader and this is largess.....

So this game will have romance, including with a filthy Xeno.
That said, Rogue Trader is perhaps the only setting in WH 40k where such "frivolity" can be included and not seem completely out of place. The setting for every Warhammer 40k game is that in the grim dark future, there is only war. Not much lovin, touchin, squeezin going on there.
Rogue Traders have a responsibility to grow and maintain their dynasty. They will look for advantageous liaisons and will look at things probably very much like middle age fantasy nobility would look on marriages etc.

It would be more likely that they would marry someone who brings wealth and power to the table, and then have their love toy that they run around the galaxy with.

So people need not fear that they won't have romances... you just might not be satisfied with your options.
For instance, I am a guy that never plays a female character.
I do not romance males as I do not have any desire for same sex couples.
So the options will be a cold trader, a dirty xeno, a mutant with 3 eyes, and a psyker who is on edge and ready to blow.
For female characters or gay male characters, it is even more bleak.... I can not stand Heinrich even though he is a powerful character. Our Tech Priest can't mate. Our Seneschal is already a grandfather and too crunchy. Space Marine... heh. I REALLY wish they had not made it a mangy wolf.
I am betting that with DLC and or future chapters, that we might get additional follower options since we can easily kill off the psyker. We might banish the Sister, and we could conceivably get rid of the rest... so I am hoping we get a Druchari / Dark Eldar Wych....
But that is just me! Since they were allowed in the TT I have my hopes up!

Peace
Dont tell me you can romance a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ space marine in this game? And a dark eldar is even more impossible. Romance is not in their vocabulary. Whats next, an Eversor bringing you flowers?

Can we stop with this raping of lore please
Jester from me loser.
The lore is much more broad than your evidently limited scope.
YES we will romance an Eldar, and a Sister of Battle, Rogue Psyker, and a Cold Trade dealer if you are male hetero and some of those with female lesbian.
Males will be an interrogator, a 300 year old ex navy officer, motorized love from the tech priest might be interesting, and yeah a big wolf dong from your space marine.
Get over it, read from better sources.
In spite of this,
Peace
