Cassia - aoe damage, debuff, stun burn, providing additional turns .. She got heavily nerfed, but let's be real - those nerfs only brought her back into view of the other characters in the game, including the main character.
Argenta - burst militant, I don't think that one of the most played builds in the game needs an explenation
Pasqal - skill monkey with a plasma gun, thank you.
Yrilit - sniper assassin
[who ever you want, probably abelart or heinrix]
I'd pretty much pick the same party for fluff reasons, though I do love Idiras lines - not taking her hurts a little .. on the other hand: Not summoning random demons into your backline comes with a lot of benefits ..
The new companion seems interesting enough but fights with other npcs in the game for a spot in your party so I am not certain how to match her into a party yet.
---
Pasqal in your party: He has an interesting story that partially relates to the overall plot of the game (it is mostly a personal thing but it does connect a little bit)
He has funny comments here and there - just having a tech priest is nice for fluff.
He provides you with tech and logic to such a degree that you can almost stop worrying about those skill checks which is HUGE.
Speced into his personal skills (the tech priest ones) and geared towards plasma weapons turns him into a pretty decent killer with a range aoe option, he also buffs your party through operative skills and is a good candidate for the strategist class which at least one character in your party should have just so you can harvest the zone bonuses.
I try to make consistent groups that have all roles but also makes sense to my alignment.
Cassia and Pasqal are fixed picks, they are just too unique to remove.
The others:
Melee:
Heinrix for dogmatic and herectic - Warrior + Executor
Abelard for dogmatic and iconoclast - Warrior + Vanguard
Also chainsaws are MAD OP so they now can kill amost anything in a single turn.
Ranged DPS
Argenta for dogmatic or herectic (sniper or heavy bolter soldier + arch militant)
Yrliet For iconoclast or herectic (always sniper operative + assassin)
Support:
Idira in herectic (operative + executor)
Jae in Iconoclast
Kibellah in Dogmatic (blade dancer + executor)
(but I'll change those according to the mission/party combos).
Three officers: Cassia AND RT AND Jae
Two Grand Strategists: Cassia AND RT
Master Tactician: Jae
One Tank: (Abelard OR Heinrix)
Three damage dealers: Cassia AND two out of (Kibellah, Idira, Argenta, Pasqal)
Main variation is swap Jae for an extra damage dealer, except I like Jae.
Heinrix
Cassia (now that she's not absurdely op anymore)
Pasqal
Yrliet
Marazhai (potentially switching to Kibelah)
As a Dogmatic Commissar, I essentially just roll with the other Dogmatic companions - And Abelard.
1-Abelard
2-Argenta
3-Heinrix
4-Ulfar
5-Pasqal(before DLC) Kibellah
Ulfar
idira
kibellah
pasqal
cassia
Sometimes I switch around, but that seems to work alot, I know many don't like Idira, but she does decent crowd control esp early game, then debuffs and buffs.
Theres a few times were Ive had to reload a mission due to her unbound soul nonsense:/ I wish there was an earlier way to sort that out:P
I used argenta up to getting ulfar, but he just seems a better her, which is a shame since I miss her faith quotes and ulfars lines get on my nerves.
The team
Abelard - absolute no brainer if you dont play a tank yourself and he is just such a likable bro
Cassia - duh, even after nerfs she is still the best
Argenta - again, duh, she just shreds entire teams of enemies
Yrliet - to take out the enemy backline
and for the 6th it is usually Pasqual with his plasma build.
With the introduction of Kibellah I have a hard time deciding who to replace because she is really strong.
No, sadly the merc / NPC generator doesn't let you make cool mercs, just imperial guard.
Officer/MT Jae
Officer/GS Cassia
Arch Militant Argenta
Pyro-Executioner Heinrix
Assassin Yriet
Although I frequently need to bring Bounty Hunter Pasqal in place of Heinrix for skill checks. he's kinda bad in combat.
