How does this compare to BG3...?
Got about halfway through and got bored...

As a CRPG how does this compare?

Thanks!

Subjective. BG3 is better in all aspects but story and lore (Forgotten Realms be convulated and boring af), which I guess is the core of a good CRPG. Rogue Trader is a Unity game, serviceable graphics but I love the story. Act IV and V kinda suck tho.

Same, Rogue Trader hooked me in from beginning to end, though.
Graphical fidelity is definitely behind BG3 but for me it makes up for it in its art direction.
Story is great but requires a lot of reading - everything is superbly written, though.
There's not much world interaction (like exploding barrels) but the RPG system is a lot more complex - I thought it's easy enough to understand, though if you read the skill descriptions and try to build syngergies between the skills. That's what the system is all about.
I'd say how much you like the game is dependent on how much you like 40k. If you have no experience with it whatsoever, I think it's actually a decent point of entry but be aware that this ain't your average Star Wars good vs evil. In 40k nobody's the good guy, humanity is full of zeal, gruel, xenophobia and/or self serving ambition and usually all good intentions turn to ♥♥♥♥ eventually. Very deep and immersive but if you expect to find current day morals reflected in this game or 40k in general you'll likely be disappointed or even offended.
If you like 40k already, this is the best thing since sliced bread.

Yup, I played through act 3 in the hopes that it would eventually get good but it never did. And the final boss was so bad and I cared so little that I couldn't even be bothered to finish it.

Both games are great imo.

BG3 has better story telling, and more variance in play thoughs, but is too easy and the combat system and classes are kinda bland(But that's a big problem with 5e).

Rogue trader's combat is a lot more fun and difficult (but has more settings to make it easier), it also has a better power fantasy (being a rogue trader is fun) but over all the story wasn't as interesting otherwise, and late game kinda sucked. Also I hated the ship battles but some people love them.

Personally I liked rouge trader more and have more hours in it, but both are fantastic and done by strong crpg teams.
I think both game are great. Act III in BG3 did drag a tad, imo. I haven't felt that here in RT. BG3 is obviously the more polished offering, but I feel like RT is a great game for the asking price and does a superb job of showing exactly what 40k is all about.

I highly recommend it if you like the setting or CRPGs in general.

BG3 at least works. Ship combat in this is broken so you have no acceleration phase so your weapons never reload after the first shot and you can't move after the first turn.

for one BG3 is the odd one as far as CRPG go most do not have the price tag or cut scenes and most are never fully voiced this game has alot of depth/lore and alot of reading one thing i think most of owl cats crpgs have over BG3 is the depth of option's in the character maker and when you level up other then that you really cant compare them

I never liked Larian to begin with so I'm biased
BG3 is only a Baldur's gate game in name though and has worse 5e implementation than Solasta which is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ wild.

I agree, but it's a pretty game, the VA is good, the weapons and armours are pretty. Sadly, the main story sucks, and I disliked almost all of the companions.

Comparing this to BG3 would be very unfair.

There is a massive budget difference and BG3 is obviously a way higher quality game.

RT is a great CRPG but its not for everyone. It does not have that Larian quality of full voice acting, gfx, engine capabilities etc.

^ this is pretty much what I started to write, but better than I'd have written it. The only thing I'll add is that if you got bored with BG3 about half way, I suspect you'll get bored with RT at about the same point. But with both games, if you make it half way, you've already gotten more hours than you'll get out of most games.

BG3 is more about higher quality and polish, But gameplay, story and cRPG core is times better in Rogue Trader.
As an cRPG BG3 is extremely weak. It's just motion capture and fully voiced what makes it good.

I finished Rogue Trader. I never bothered to get out of Act II in BG3 (Life long tabletop DnD player 1st/2nd ed roots)

BG3 is better. But RT has some good points. I like its combat, too. One of its bigger problems, are the classes and many active skills. So many are useless or way too weak. The new DLC class for example. Not one of the active (and most passive) abilities are useful to me. I am better off to pick different psyker schools and pick those juicy psyker passives. The Blade Dancer starter abilities are strong. You dont need anything else.
