I play officer/tactician, as I use Argenta in that role. With the accumulated gear (heavy bolter, +firerate, less reload time, bonuses to burst, etc.) she deals up to 2,5 k in one salvo.
For the next DLC I will have to get over it and finally play a melee instead of arranging things for the team.
And you can use another origin than hers. Although hers is great...that must be the one and only companion which was optimally build by Owlcat in the three games.
tactician is excellent for soldier with fire psker origin. you buff yourself and then aoe firestorm every enemy down. Can get a second hit from the soldier starting ability to ignite then firestorm combo immediately. With Cassia its multiple uses of inspire on yourself from her extra turns to the point by round 3 most things can't survive even a 1 ap firestorm spell if they make it that far. By the time the +50 momentum ring you get ult 1st turn from her. I haven't seen most enemies make an animation for a long time. Just beat grim darkness on unfair with this. Literally just my Cassia getting their instant round 1 turns from Grand Strategist and giving them to my soldier / master tact, and gg. You want more ults in the same round? You can spend your stacks on linchpin as well to max out your momentum again after a firestorm lol and you can use multiple of your staff attacks with your MC ult in the same turn.
Argenta is only capable of maybe not even a viable fraction of the amount of damage.
run and gun, press the advantage, then spray 3+ bursts of eldar pistols with ROF 6+ that inflict bleeding or toxic.
Not quite as effective as arch militant but can do insane burst damage and in the long run you can still buff your party somewhat.
