How does combat work?
So I have played turn based dnd games before but this one I dont understand.
I undestand movement points but not Action points.

So I can attack once but I still have 4 action points left, why cant I use them?

So on the left corner there are some bullets that can be chosen, I can only choose the right one thats red, not the left one thats grey?

Why? I chose the premade character Darrius. Can someone please explain to me how combat works here exactly as the game does not tell you anything about this... :S

Action points are used on both attacks and abilities. Basically you can perform only 1 attack per round if you don't have abilities/talents that say otherwise, rest of action points you can spend on abilities (i assume that you are just starting out so maybe you don't have any abilities yet)

I would recommend to continue playing, you will understand it better the more you play

Was just about to write that. After you start picking up some abilities, you will find out you never have enough AP and have to make decisions what you need. Some classes are more AP starved than others though.
And premade character... eh, in this game, I'd say custom is always better.

You have MP and AP...AND attacks, but the game doesn't show you this.
So you can spend your MP on moving (and the costs can vary) and your AP on assorted abilities, INCLUDING attacks.

Separately from that, you only have 1 attack per TURN, or "Action".
A number of abilities give you "free" attacks, meaning they don't consume your 1 attack per turn. Or can reset the attack limit.

If you hover over your attacks you will also notice that 9 times out of 10, they will also consume all your remaining MP and your "action". Action here really just means your attack. This is a hold over from the TTRPG it is based on I imagine. (And for psychic abilities whether or not they are major and if the add to veil degradation)

But you can also get "extra" turns, and those will again have their own 1 attack limitation.
These extra turns are totally separate thing from regular turns. Don't assume that stuff that happens at the beginning of your next turn happens on "extra" turns too.

Psychic attacks are treated as just that, attacks. Following all the same rules, but it's really hard to tell exactly which type they are, like Pyromancy attacks 1 target and then applies a single target attack to all around that...is that an Area attack or something else? your guess is as good as mine. But they are not weapons.

Another one, i am doing a quest and i need to "mend my wounds" I have a medic kit in my inventory but cant use it as my character does not have the perk.

How do I use it? I cant change characters, atleast i cant see how. Im using a controller.

Someone else in your party will be able to and you can click on the item and then on to who you wish to target (the avatar's up the top are good for this)

In the tutorial, abelard can do it. you need to give it to him and use him to heal yourself. Or rather the rogue trader, you can select and act as any member of your party.

He actually already has 2 in his quickbar, switch to Abelard, click the medikit icon and target your own character and presto, all done.

I see the arrows to change the character, how do I do it with a controller?
