Biomancy for crazy buffs and heals and can add some sanctic in the mix later and use force weapons because they scale with psy rating. Pyro is better suted for ranged weapons with spells.

I would recommend pyro for a melee. You can set yourself on fire and all your melee attacks now deal fire damage.

Not that other specs don't work, mind. Just that pyro has a cool perk specifically for melee.

Biomancer gives you regeneration, heal, tgh and str boost, movement boost to close the gamp between targets. Fire damage on weapon is to little for that trade off. Ofcourse he can get both late game but at the start of the game biomancy is the best hands down for meele char.

Dunno about that man. At the start of the game, the biomancy buff will add ~15% damage to a melee attack, so maybe 5 per strike, if it connects.

Meanwhile pyro warrior can add up to 30 extra damage to his melee swing in chapter 1 (with daemon tool, in veil-heavy fights) that will be applied regardless of whether the physical melee swing deals damage or not.

Healing in chapter 1 will be about half that of a medkit at best. It is useful for being ranged and removing wounds, but thats not a game-changer like the pure damage pyro can put out, IMHO. And by the time the biomancer has it, the pyro will be using firestorm to ignite every enemy in a 5 tile radius around him.

Biomancer is a must but at the same time it's also something you can have someone else do, to get the most out of it is a heavy power investment which can leave little room for yourself, none of the powers or talents are limited to you, so you can always have an ally go all in on Biomancer and have them buff you.

Sanctic or Pyro may be better for some of the powerful self only talents, favoring Sanctic for a new player because of how manageable they are, Destined, Edge of Dawn and Psalms of the Heroes.

Don't know how well the Sword of Faith ability works now, but it could be a nice capstone for melee, and if it still sucks, hopefully they patch it with the big DLC patch.

Pyro works well with either biomancer or sanctic which give nice talents and heals to add not to mention other powers. i like pyro's fire blood talent, sanctic has destined for armor and biomancer has great buffs and talents for melee.

You already have sanctic biomancer in game waiting as companion so take pyro and bit of sanctic - both of them have talents what increase psy rating. I smack opponents with pyrp staff from vendor- maybe later force weapons will be better.

Deflection, armor and dodge are main priorities though - pyro needs to be in thick of the fight to be effective not hide behind cover.

Setting yourself on fire is way to go but speccing the rest of the team to help setting enemies on fire helps a lot - I specced Argenta to flamers and do not use bolters with her, Idira has backup flamer pistol to help out and everybody has fire grenades to back up.

I played a melee Pyro Warrior and it was really fkn good, even before Pyro buffs. Definitely recommended.
