Is this some kind of bug or something new that i dont understand? Chech the captures i shared above (just i case i try changing the language to see if was something related with im playing in spanish and not in english but it was the same)

i already have played this part yesterday and this

was not there. Is not a bid deal but if this some kind of bug made the game looks "unpolished" =/

I think it was always there. You just did not scroll the text window up in the screenshot where it is not showing. Look at the vertical scroll bar.

I would have noticed it at some point (I have +100 hours of gameplay), however it was the first thing that caught my attention when I loaded the game after the patch. I have many screenshots and none show this, I don't think it's just the scrolling being up or down. It seems more like something in the code or formatting of the text. I appreciate the response.

Having started playing it in the last week, it was there before this patch when you scroll that chat bar on the side up. I took it as a kind of an in-universe 'this is the start of the transcription'

Sorry for being insistent but it's strange, even in old community screenshots from the forum that didn't appear. Also if we google "rogue traders screenshots" all the ones I see confirm what I'm saying.

All those old screenshots show the scrollbar, which means there is text hidden up that is not visible unless you manually scroll the bar up.

There is little reason for the player to scroll up a conversation bar up when the conversation just began, that's why you did not notice it in the 100 hours you played. But i played 800+ hours, analysing logs and the like, so i noticed it.

It looks like this new patch changes the text window output in such a way that it all fits without the need of a scrollbar, making the first line visible.

I belive you, but that line was not there in the past at least for me, the scroll bar works (scroll down only if there was hidden text (out of the window) the bar will never move up or down if the text was small enough to be visible in a single screen. I agree with you that in some way now the chat window allow more lines, but plz dont tell that i never see it becose i scroll down the bar (im not so stupid).

I'm not saying you're stupid, only that there is zero reason for a player to scroll the conversation window UP to reveal previously said things in a conversation that just began and thus does not have anything previously said.
But that is just what had to be done to see that protocol line.

So it is completely understandable why you never noticed it. I myself have been playing for months before i first noticed it.

No i do not know why but even in guides the screes did not show this, this kinde of code looks like a "Salto de Pagina" (Next Page) previously (im 100% sure of this) the chat box when the speech from a new NPC start was over a "clean page" now is like a log, if i scroll up i see every speech from all the different NPC involved in the chat event (sorry im stuggling to explaing what im trying to say in my "good enough" english.

In the guides, i sometimes consult, i did not see a single screen that show this (.... :protocol: ....) line in the chat box. That is why i guess is some kind of code for a page jump or a clear page when a new speech start and not a feature (like some kind of cogitator effect).

Stax's explanation sounds right. The text was always in the log, with the difference being:

• Before patch: It defaulted to being visible only in the history, if you didn't scroll up, you didn't see it.
  
• After patch: It defaults to being visible in the current dialogue, you see it if you scroll or not.

The second point there is my conjecture as I haven't played since the patch and am basing it on what I think you are describing.

After the patch the protocol line is displayed above every reply in a dialogue. Or rather, it is always on top of the visible dialogue window (there's just one line, if you scroll up the diaog it is not repeated).

It does look quite bad, let's hope they fix it pronto.
