Only one attack per turn???
This seems a bit ridiculous. It's like having four AP is mocking me.

How can I do more than take one pathetic shot per turn? I went with the operative archetype in the hopes of being a sniper.

Also how is this handled with weapons which are rapid firing in nature? You get one burst per turn?

One attack per turn is a base rule that will get so twisted by the time you get to chapter 2 you won't recognize it anymore, don't worry.

The one attack you do can be a burst, yes. It's an "attack action", which may do different things, fire a burst, a single sniper shot, set someone on fire, blow up the whole room, that kind of thing.

There are so many ways to bypass this attack limitation. I assume you have started just now?
If so, just continue playing and you will soon start finding out APs are starting not being enough. (I suggest you take Tactical Knowledge on all your Operatives (yes, even Idira), that skill if used well is the most broken one in the game, but I will not elaborate further, heh)

I'll certainly look into that skill...

Is there anything else I should prioritise? My character is a psyker as well and I think I went for the version with the holy based powers. e.g. Can summon a giant magic lightsaber of doom. May not have been the best choice but oh well, it sounded interesting.

If you are playing on normal difficulty, don't worry about it too much. Take it as a learning experience. You can later restart at a higher difficulty once you learn what's what.

Charge and Slice do not count against the attack turn.

Hm, as stax said - if you are playing on normal, you can take everything as a learning experience.
Personally, I'd recommend playing as a "pure" sniper though. Since there are so many great Operative and Assassin traits and skills that boost damage, you will never have good time to take psyker ones unless you want to skip some.

I'm at the stage now where my main buffs Cassia, she takes out a ♥♥♥♥ load of mobs and then Yrliet finishes off the scraps. I can't remember the last time Abelard, Argenta or Pasqal got some action.
That's just the initial base for characters. I have a custom flame psyker which gets four hits on her first turn, with the flame attack jumping to a second enemy within a certain distance.

Means you're basically getting 8 attacks with one character right off the rip. The skill tree is huge for each of the archetypes and it's ridiculous the things you can create and find simply by fooling around with it.

Right now, I'm trying to see how much ridiculous damage I can achieve in one shot. Yrliet is at the top right now. She smoked a Chaos Marine for slightly over 1.3k.

Welcome to the game and as others have said; that attack limit will change pretty fast. Late game my Argenta will pretty much clean house on her own with multiple attacks do to skills and buffs in a single go.

If you are an operative sniper you want to go assassin and take Killing Edge. Have cassia give you an extra turn = one enemy down. Your regular turn = another down. Take Death Whisper for a free attack and remove a grunt. So in the first turn of combat you yourself have deleted two of the strongest enemies and one of their minions without even trying. And that's starting at level 17, right at the beginning of Chapter 2. Patience Grasshopper, you don't have to wait that long.

The trick? Use the strongest laser sniper rifle you can find and take every talent that removes enemy dodge. As the Intrawebz meme goes...Profit!

BTW, take Lore Xenos and Aeldari Weapon prof, you will need it. And make sure to help Jae, even if you are Dogmatic. Starting at the beginning of Act 2 you will find awesome sniper rifles that will take you through the game.

I assume it's been nerfed since I last played, but I had Yrliet doing upwards of I think 10 attacks in one turn. Not quite that many on Argenta and Cassia, but they still both attacked enough in one turn to almost wipe entire encounters in that single turn.

Long story, short, Officer was completely broken at launch, and probably still is super overpowered.

I'm pretty sure you can still do that.

Best I've Killing Edge'd is 15.6k. Stacking all possible debuffs of your party on a target (the last boss) + the Exemplar traits cohesion can do some ridiculous things.

Officer has been nerfed a bit: The regular power is now only usable 1/round on a single target (i.e. only one officer can give Yrliet an extra half turn, other officers can not use it on her after that), and the heroic power no longer has the ability to give back 1AP per kill (which made attacks free before the nerf, as long as you keep killing).

You can still use officer1 to give her a half-turn, after use officer 1 to give use heroic act on her, then use officer2 to give her another heroic act etc. But it's no longer 11attacks per officer heroic act.

So yeah, still quite OP, but no longer completely broken imo
