Has anyone reached the highest conviction rank (dogmatic/iconoclast/haeretic)?
I wonder if any player managed to do it on any conviction and if it is even possible. i am over 500 hours into the game now and played through it multiple times on unfair with different convictions and the closest i got was playing haeretic. i ask myself if it is possible or even maybe bugged?! please help!

I think the only way it might be possible was if you literally picked every single "[Conviction]" option presented to you. But I also think you need to do every side quest to get there. My current MC isn't as high up as previous ones despite being later in the game. I've skipped side quests, so haven't gotten as many chances to interact and get conviction points. That, to me, is the problem with the system. It shouldn't be a fixed score, it should be based on the choices you make when you have the chance to make a choice. My current MC is no less dogmatic than previous ones. But he isn't as high up the ranking because he hasn't had the chance to pick as many answers. I can absolutely agree with not making it all the way to lvl V if you pick neutral answers too often. But if you always pick [Conviction] when given the chance, you should make it to lvl V.

i completed everything known to me (sidesquests aswell) and always went with the [convicion] choices for the one i chose to play with for the entire run... hmmm must be then missing out stuff. should maybe quicksave before every dialog and literally choose every option to see if i can get any conviction options... oh man. this will be an exhausting undertaking

It's doable for Hereticus and I managed to hit Rank 5 at the very end of Act 4 (picked pretty much every Heretic option). Could be other convictions simply don't have enough points.

Is it worth focusing on just one conviction, or is it better to spread it around?

At least one piece of equipment needs level 5 - the special sword for heretic psykers. And there are some items that do scale with a specific conviction rating, like the Eyes of Joyeuse being tied to your Dogmatic level. Level 5 Iconoclast means you wouldn't have to worry about hitting your own party members with bursts or area attacks.

okay, then i have to take it much slower with the dialogues, cause i was always more focused on combat/items and different builds... in the last playthrough i btw literally oneshotted the endboss on unfair with yirliet in the very first turn. over 20k dmg crit :D

I'd say max one conviction. There are colony projects available at conviction rank 3 and 4 which could provide substantial benefits. Also in most of the cases rank 4 and 5 conviction perks beat having rank 1 and 2 perks from all convictions. Free heroic action and no friendly fire from Iconoclast path, for example, looks much more appealing lategame than, say, 20% chance to not spend a medkit charge.

That being said, if you want to roleplay and think that you char should have ranks in several conviction - go for it. Unless you're on Unfair, the game is beatable without complete minmaxing.

I can't imagine any advantage to spreading it around. There's no way that is going to "win" the game. And it doesn't make sense from a role-play perspective.

Some options are hidden, which is infuriating, for example:
When you first get a shard of the sword and have a dream about it, immediately throwing away the sword, as it's chaotic gives you no Dogmatic points.
Playing into the dream, with the sword, and *then* changing your mind, and throwing the sword away, gives you +4 Dogmatic.

What?

Spread it around might been a poor choice of words. I guess I meant it in a do I need to solely focus on one conviction like I would another game with a good/evil morality system? Or can I make the occasional off brand choice if I like that outcome better?

Focus to reach lvl 4 because some options in ch 3 onward needs at least lvl 4, too many flip-floping will tank your main conviction

I think they are leaving some headroom for the DLC to add conviction points too.
