Let the Cycle be Discontinued Progress Blocked?

I can't get the tech shaman to give me the dialogue I need. He will talk about Pref but not let me speak to Pref.

I found the solution. Click on everything and then talk to the chieftain. I didn't realise I could actually talk with the chieftain because all the NPCs in that section ignore the player; it really should be listed in the quest objectives.

After that, talk to the tech shaman and then to the servitor.

Did all that and it didn't work. There was even a message that I had found the way to go through but nothing happened when I went back to the shaman and tried to enter the blocked lift.

You have to talk to the shaman in a specific way and then to the lift in a specific way. It's just... obscure. That mission has some cool story moments, but the start of it is not well designed.
