Did you read my post?
Why that doesn't work well, should be self explanatory.
I'm pretty sure any combat veteran, or just a person who's handled a gun IRL, could explain to you as to why the sudden inability to shoot someone point blank who's menacing you with a knife is patently absurd.
This point is for venting more than anything, but I genuinely do not understand the logic behind this change. If it was in the beta, why is it suddenly locked behind a talent for a class unlocked at level 16?
Apparently, random peasants and halfbreed mutants in Wrath of the Righteous have more combat ability as they take shots at house-sized demons at point blank range with their bows, throwing stars, hatchets, darts and throwing axes. This game design choice is comical.
And any combat expert would explain it to you, why it would be hard to fire a rifle in close combat, when the other party is wielding a knife.
This is not a good argument, as if someone walked up to you in a combat scenario where your gun was already primed and you were alert and looking for enemies, you'd fire point-blank into their chest.
This change is made purely for gameplay "balance" purposes, and it makes zero sense. The attack of opportunity system is meant to simulate how a person would swipe at you with their knife if you tried to fire point-blank, while the accuracy penalty simulates them grappling with your gun to foil your attempt to aim.
There was a better way of doing this without forcing players into picking a character class and a specific perk, so I'm just gonna disregard your messages.
Now that's some good news. We're only just out of the prologue, but its nice to hear some weaponry just doesn't turn off when a hostile triggers a proximity alarm. Gracias, sir.
You can fire point blank from any gun in game, w/o attack of oportunity from enemy side, you just need perk for that. And anyone can get such perk, it's just pointless for most archtypes since not all use ranged weapon as main source of damage. You really need to play game first before start throwing ♥♥♥♥.
p/s
Shotguns and pistols can be used in melee w/o any perks at all.
By far the easiest:
1. Use a pistol
2. Use a shotgun
Both of those should be super doable since you can swap weapon sets for free...
Also easy:
3. Use your melee characters with stuff like Taunting Scream to prevent enemies from meleeing ranged characters
4. Use a perk like Dash to move out of melee for free with no AoO
5. Use a perk that lets you shoot any wpn in melee such as Arch-Militant's Close-Quarters training
