The "truth" about steam deck compatibility.

I was playing Rogue Trader on Steam Deck. Indeed, the game is compatible, in the sense that it runs and the game was designed to accept controller input.

But that does not mean the game plays well. The issue: the game was not designed with smaller screens in mind. Meaning, the icons are hard to see as they are tiny. You either need to zoom in or request an inspection.

When you look at consoles like the Switch, the games are though with the screen size in mind.

It would be great such information was brought to the front somehow. If making icons larger all the time is not viable(screen clutter), they should at least pop up when hovered over with the cursor or when being selected as a target.

It would be amazing devs started to incorporate steam deck and other handheld devices as part of development.

text sizing should be available for every game ever, I have the same issue on my 65" TV that I have my PC plugged into that I do on my steam deck, the text is often the wrong size. It's a matter of accessibility.

text size, UI scaling, FOV sliders, colorblind options (or better yet custom color choices), etc. These are things that need to be in all games. I agree with you completely!

I understand that doing so may not align with the developers intended "feel" of the game. But if I can't see it, I can't play it.

I'd rather play it in a way that is enjoyable for me, rather than not experience the game. But it's the dev's choice to alienate customers.

What I didn't enjoy about the steam deck verified status was checking graphics and seeing a bunch of options reduced for it.

I mean, most games can be "steam deck verified" once you lower the graphics on it. Also, most games offer controller input, so not really seeing what's "verified" here.
