"fun" PC build after patch
Played the game after release and hated the officer buff combat system. About to start a new play through, what kind of build would be fun to play after patch ?

Thanks

It's not like there's all that many options to choose from. I'm sure you can figure it out.

Didn't like Officer and especially Strategist as well..., using mostly Arch Militants now and most fights don't make it into round 2.

Give melee a try - especially if you go assassin. It feels very different from a ranged playstyle, especially as you rush forward into the enemy crowd and dodge or parry everything thanks to your high agi.

How about an assassin? You could go for a warrior/assassin and use Charge, Death Whispers and Danse Macabre, taking any talents that upgrade those abilities. You'll have high mobiliity and can attack several times per turn. First create an opening and charge an enemy. Then Danse through the enemy and use regular attack on the new opening, Danse through them again and attack a third time with Death Whispers. If the first target dies, you may be able to attack new targets instead.

Alternatively, you could go for the single attack boss killer operative/assassin, focused on the use of Killing Edge. Stack dodge to give them a ton of lethality, setup with your operative abilities to strip the target of high armor/dodge if needed and buff your own damage, then go in for an insanely strong strike and disappear with Elusive Shadow becoming the lowest priority target and getting extra damage on your next turn. If you pick Forge World origin, you can pick the movement implant to keep up with the more mobile soldiers and warriors, since operative doesn't have such skills. You can also pick the Forge World talent that lets you use FEL skills with INT, letting you rival Jae as a skill monkey.

EDIT:
Another fun and really powerful build is the sanctic psyker officer/tactician. Your psyker abilities take a while to get into full swing, so you need to play act 1 as an officer, but once you get the sanctified staff and more psy rating in act 2, you can become a primary dps who self-buffs huge resolve and damage buffs with tactician abilties, particularly Fervour, Linchpin and Press the Advantage. Then use your Sanctified Staff to AoE with Emperor's Wrath for thousands of damage (I reached 5k in act 2). The attack scales off psy rating * resolve, so any items and talents that buff psy rating, as well as stacking FEL and resolve result in enormous damage potential, which is further multiplied by Press the Advantage (up to x4). Play dogmatic to benefit from the psy rating helmet you can get in act 2.

This but mix in some Pyromancer psyker so you can set yourself on fire before you go dancing through the enemy lines.

Sounds rough in terms of ability picks. Which ones do you go for? What's your psyker/archetype split?

Orchestrate Flame, Relentless Blaze, Psy Rating Boosts, Body of Flames, Blade of Light were what I took from Psychic. I also took Fires of the Forge from forge world origin.

Everything else is from Archetypes (warrior/assassin) and General talents.

There's probably a better way to do it, I dunno. I don't look this stuff up.

There's not much of a point to invest in the Strategist Zones, as those points can be used elsewhere, but other than that they are pretty useful (especialy frontline zone and rear zone), it can

If you like Rogue gameplay go Operative-Assassin, for simple but fun gameplay I quite liked the Warrior-Vanguard for a tank, Warrior-arch militant for melee and Soldier-Bounty Hunter or Operative-bounty hunter (for a high INT based) ranged.

Honestly sanctic warrior psyker is still strong as hell if you like melee and haven't tried it.

In last acts, officers are still a really strong pick. You need buff and stack to create massive damage in act 4 and 5 to keep your momentum on going and face the deadeist bosses.
So even with nerf the comb officer/ archmilitant still dominate the game from act 3 to 5.

Nevertheless at the start of the game with a single bring it down and officer ultimate nerves, you can't rely on a soldier stacks. Just fisnish unfair act 1 yesterday and according to my experience, the most reliable archetypes were operative to stack armor and damage and a santic psycker to use armor of the emperor. As you can't delete trash in one turn as before, you need to stack armor as soon as possible to mitigate or even negate damage. And operative is definitely the way to go dor that matter.
I want to play mini Space Marine with my PC. Starting new campaign now
