Intelligence AOE flamer/melta build
Thought I would try a rare build as game is too easy, wanted dogmatic priest so going operative forge world intelligence build(with the change to aoe damage). I know its bit of a gimic but assuming I need main stat intelligence. Does Ballistic skill still effect hit chance of AOE attacks?

Pinnacle of Weaponry (Int scaling for weapon damage) does not work with Flamer weapons.
Only Plasma, Melta and Power weapons.

It is a very strong build, specially with Calculated Relations, which makes a lot of Fellowship skills also scale off Intelligence.
It is not at all a nich build, however. It is one of the strongest in the game, because all you need to do is stack Int, and will end up with all skills at 100+ level, if you play well, so you will have a master of all character, with the only restrictions being taht you are only really proficient at some of the most powerful weapon types in the game (Plasma and Power weapons).
It even allows you to play Melee or Ranged, or even both, quite competently.

Ballistic skill still affects. In fact, you get both BS and Int scaling, it does not switch, it adds.

ahh wasnt sure it would stack, problem is ive put stats in non optimal choices like some in will (for priest buffs) Should have focused on say perception.

Do not fret, Argenta, Heinrix and Abelard have a trait that gives their begginer choice stats to all otehr party members, so you end up with about 130 in every one of them, and about 200 in the one you leveled up the most, by endgame, which is enough that your RT basically becomes unkillable, and likely wipes whole rooms on his own.

I did not level up the most effective either, and still ended up with a huge do-it-all monster that deleted Immortals in 2 shots, almost ignored all damage (even from the end boss), and passed all skill checks on his own.

Do meltas count as flame damage or energy? Guessing going to be forced into soldier/fortress world.

They count as Melta weapns, their own weapon type.

A Melta weapon does not fire out ignited fuel like a Flamer, or superheated plasma like a Plasma Gun, but instead it shoots out a literal heat ray, from a concentrated small nuclear blast.

It is an energy weapon, but the game lacks this classification, so it falls on it's own Melta weapon type, including having a Melta Weapon Profeciency and Melta Weapon Expertise perks.

so doesnt benefit from dogmatic, ok wanted to check. Essentially a upgraded shotgun.

It is more like an anti-tank flamer, since it does set stuff on fire, but yes, it is just an immediate cone or line of heat death.
