Act 3 beginning spoilers. Yrliet?
I think I've missed some exposition? How does my character know that it is Yrliets fault for me being trapped in the dark eldar city? As far as I saw, she thought she found some of her kin, we went to investigate, then it turned out to be a dark eldar trap and we all got taken?

It isn't an universe that trust is in plenty of supply. For both humans and aliens. The fact the trap was done by Drukhari and she has paper thin excuse to lead you to there. Before landing maybe you can argue that the merchant vessel crew had some info about Yrliet people can be entertained. After that , when Drukhari unveil the ambush never.
Add to that Yrliet is present at your mock trial free as a bird is another stone to the theory Yrliet betrayed you.
Add to that Marazhai taunting you.

It is even an event you can have with Yrliet. To watch over your trophies with her.

The problem with that event is that it's not explained what exactly tripped her up - Yrliet sees a weird artifact (that I had no idea about) and tenses up, but doesn't elaborate.

Same as the OP, I was very, very confused about all the "traitor" talk when in my eyes, all we did was follow the traces of Yrliet's lost kin. Not that I would be mad even if she did betray me, since Yrliet's romance is the only one that I find somewhat intriguing.

It still feels like a lot of it is only explained much later, which makes the betrayal accusations at the start of the chapter quite meaningless.
The game shouldn't spell that weird piece of trophy that you inherit from Theodora is significat for Yrliet. Add to the fact that she clamps down and stop speaking about it, gives a hint that it is a core of her being. That is her search for her people and her people well being.
Everything until later and when you meet and talk with both Yrliet and Marazhai indepth about this subject paints the fact Yrliet betrayed you and led you and the RT into a trap because of something connected to the piece of trophy something that is linked to her people. It is circumstantial evidence but enough that you can realistically accuse her of betrayal without sounding like a bigot or xenophobe.
In my opinion I think Yrliet betrayed you, but didn't think alot of things. What she will end into, were you and her and the party will end. And I think Commoragh wasn't the place she intended to dump you as a punishment for killing the craftworld , even if you were responsible for the death of the craftworld(like Theodora in your place ).
Like you cannot even admit when meeting the eldar in act 4 that the dynasty and the previous RT had a hand in killing the craftworld. Yrliet and Nocturne knows this but will keep your secret, but admiring this will auto trigger a battle in act 4 with the eldar.

2. Yrliet drags you there cause she's a moron (basically an emotional child by Eldar standards, she's young).
3. Yrliet decides to withold information from you and lies because she very well realizes NOBODY would agree to follow this clearly trustworthy intel from a Drukhari.
4. Everyone gets ♥♥♥♥♥♥ (figuratively and literally)
When did she get to talk to mazrahai? This is the bit of exposition I think I've missed, the like, how the info wasn't genuine? As far as I know, she told me she heard some stuff at the docks, but actually it was a rumour from Achilles who knows loads about the drukhari, but since achillies was a traitor, the info turned out to be a trap. That is my bad understanding and why Im confused that she's a traitor
>> Achilles who knows loads about the drukhari

Ye Achilles actually is a contact for Lord Inquisitor's protege in xenos world Marazhai, I believe she gets this info by torturing Achilles before killing him
>> since Achilles was a traitor
not really, it's his usual inquisition job, if you are dogmatic you are supposed to accept it;

he was getting info about drukhari raids (which was genuine) from the same source, so Marazhai could just as well feed him wrong info next time (which was not genuine)

It is very clear it was a trap. Also Yrliet was there during your fake trial, not as a prisoner but as a member in good standing with the DE.
She also told you were to go and that she found more of her refugee kin. When you walk there you find human ship with human crew with DE close the trap.
The ship had nothing to do with her craftworld kin.

(Potential spoilers for OP)

This is before she finds out that the Drukhari never intended to reveal the truth of her kins' fate to her, however — and Marazhai confesses to you in companion dialogue that he knew how desperate she was and played with her emotions and made her desperation spiral (Aeldari SIGNIFICANTLY experience emotions stronger than humans do, which is why they must be cautious and practice restraint at all times lest it attracts Daemons/Slaanesh given that all Aeldari are innate Psykers).

The entire trap was Marazhai's idea, Yrliet just happened to be a convenient tool who had no idea that Marazhai meant to capture you. And, at this point, she believes that you're the one responsible for Crudurach's destruction — which you reveal to her later on is not true, it was Theodora.

When she realises that she was tricked while in Commorragh, the regret of betraying the RT starts to weigh heavily on her that she completely gives up and starts becoming a Drukhari herself (the whole sequence where you find her.. she's being goaded into torturing another Drukhari)—that is until she discovers that you're alive and she confesses that she has lost the ability to "meditate" (in the space magic-Aeldari way that they do) and has to relearn it all with your help.

And yeah I'm still kinda baffled why she was there not as a prisoner

Okay, timeline here:
1. Yrliet finds out that Achilleas is a traitor and working for Marazhai. She kills him and takes the communicator that allowed Achilleas to contact Marazhai.
2. She has a call with Marazhai where he claims that he knows about her kin and tells her to come out to the Atlasian Reach if she wants to find them.
3. She tells the RT to go there, but deliberately leaves out how she got that information because she doesn't trust them after seeing a fragment of her Craftworld in your cabin on the ship.
4. Yrliet expected that this would be a cruel joke where you'd find more dead Crudarach Eldar. Instead it's a full-blown ambush that ends with you getting dragged to Commoragh. And it was obviously a prepared ambush, she was the one to lead you into it, and Marazhai sarcastically congratulates her for it.

Tl;dr: Yrliet didn't deliberately lead you into an ambush, but she absolutely did lie to you to get you there, in a way that left you unprepared and unaware of any potential dangers. It's not exactly treason, but it is a huge breach of trust and a massive ****up on her part.

Also, let us not forget that Yrliet was present at the fake trial, gaslighting the Rogue Trader. You can argue that her actions up to this point weren't a betrayal and were done out of confusion. After all, everyone has a right to some secrets. But! She is the one who warned you not to trust Dark Eldars on a few missions before.

Moving on. She knows that others are being tortured; she knows that fate awaits the Rogue Trader and she helps the Dark Eldars attempt to mentally break you at the trial. This is a clear and direct example of betrayal.

She was fully okay with us dying if this would further her agenda and only felt remorse when the Dark Eldars, as usual, refused to uphold their side of the bargain. After that, she tries to worm her way into the Rogue Trader's trust, as this is the only way out of a place where she will lose her very soul. Notice how she suffers way less than any other companion in the dark city.

I love the people who shat on Argenta but defend Yrliet LOL.

She's such a racist hater who would ♥♥♥♥ you over multiple times and go puppy eyes when she gets found out.

The only reason I don't kill her is because I'm quite fond of the Far seers (who she supposedly hate) and of course Nocturne of Illusion (the actual Eldar who saved your ass in Cumonrag).

There are multiple Yrliet threads before, it's hard for them to defend their heroine, so they bring up Argenta's deed and try to paint her in a worse light than Yrliet.

It got so famous there's a Leddit thread for it: https://www.reddit.com/r/RogueTraderCRPG/comments/18vs4sh/act_3_kinda_big_spoilers_people_here_will_somehow/

Thanks for the post, I shall copypaste this one next time ANY Yrliet simp/fanboi tries to weasel out the fact she betrays you (that the in-game character admits to).

It is even funnier. Marazhai (when you come to save the Winterscale governor) challenges the Rogue Trader to a battle on some remote system. It turns out to be a trap, and he gloats about it during the siege of our capital world. Yrliet is present during all of this. So if she (somehow) never encountered a dark eldar before and only heard hearsay, she saw firsthand that Marazhai is a lying bastard who admits that he lies because it amuses him.

She then openly cooperates with Marazhai, who never hides his identity and believes him over the Rogue Trader, who at this point tried to help her find her eldars. She cooperates with a dude who is getting high at tricking and lying to people.

Astounishing move.

And when the RT decides to play along/ally with Marazhai, Yrliet decides to raise her rifle, and immediately got told to ♥♥♥♥ off by the M-man himself.

He tricked her, admitted to torture rape her relatives, and she's still too scared to kill him because she fears the RT will abandon her in Murderrapetown LOL.

Coward cuckold. Seriously, I keep her because how pathetic she is.

That's because Yrliet still considers the Drukhari her kin/cousins, despite them being ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. And that's more important to her than some mon'keigh business. Not that it absolves her or anything.

This is again you trying to passive-aggressively jab at people who basically showed you up multiple times for being wrong about 40k lore (such as thinking the Precepts of the Imperial Creed in 40k is magic when it's not, human faith/belief which affects the Warp is what causes preternatural/or supernatural phenomenon into happening - which you can cause just by being a complete and total pompous *ss in 40k with total belief in yourself as well (See: Last Ascension of Dominic Seroff, a disgraced Lord Commissar and old rival of Yarrick who was immune to Typhus's "super plague" until his ego got shattered)). Not to mention, there's dozens of people in the short lore stories who vehemently worship the Emperor but get f*cked over by random chaos shenanigans despite believing they were "protected" (again, pointing out the Emperor on the Throne isn't a deity, but the splinter of his soul that has grown in the warp - which is disconnected - is).

Argenta's whole killing Theodora is criticising the writing of the game; on-top of the fact Argenta feels like a very incomplete companion largely in part of the fact Owlcat had to cut much of her content when GW made it clear they did not want her being a romance option (ever).

It also highlighted that she acted very irrationally during a coup that could have killed everyone because of her actions: killing the Captain just because she "thought" she was a Chaos Cultist is, downright, stupid, followed by quickly murdering the Arch-Militant that saved Argenta's life from Chaos Cultists—sounds like betrayal to me. (The reason why Argenta is pensive when you greet the orphaned children after the Prologue is because the boy who speaks up at you is the SON of the Arch-Militant).

Not just that but she mentions a line on Kiava Gamma which makes people with a sense of humour laugh: That she doesn't think, she just shoots—and in hindsight this is hilarious when you know. And Heinrix is the one that does the thinking. Doesn't sound like a very smart person by any real standard at all.

Yrliet's got a lot of the better portion of content and writing in stark comparison to Argenta. I guess the redeeming quality is that mechanically, Argenta is a very easy companion to build and that's about it.

In-fact, the Koronus Expanse gets brutalised by Craftworld Alaitoc and the Crudurach survivors if you do not help Yrliet and forge an alliance (as shown in the Epilogue slides) and they're (the RT) largely unable to really fight back.

EDIT: To add, we find out that Theodora very much wasn't in league with Chaos at all; her services were acquired by a Lord Inquisitor (Calcazar) for the benefit of the Imperium, to which she was later Mind Scrubbed along with all her Officers so no one would remember Epitaph.

At worst, she's a "Heretic" for dabbling in Xenotech on behalf of a Radical Inquisitor. At best? She was most likely pardoned by the Inquisition.

Case in point.

Nope Argenta did nothing wrong. Simple as, the only good RT outside of the MC (if he chooses to be) is Chorda the honorable.

Yrliet meanwhile is incompetent, racist and stupid. The only thing smart thing she ever did is desperately hang on to the RT's legs so she even lives.
