How do you kill necron ships
Every barrage from my cannons does 2 damage per hit and the cirts do 9 damage. The only reliable sources of damage are the lance and torpedos. I have the all hands on deck ability but since ship ults don't seem to recharge reliably I don't want to use that on a fight that I could otherwise beat.

What path did you pick? heretic, iconoclast or dogmatic?

When you meet them you have to have top of the line weapons batteries. Like Archeotech weapons, eldari torpedoes tubes from a Janus Event. You have to have fully upgraded ship(level 10 or 9 ship), with people put in their correct posts and with posts abilities upgraded.
Add to that colony and colony events ship talents and skills and the battles are easy.
Torpedoes work just fine with necron ships. And necron ships will regenerate to full health if they dip under 25% of their health, once.
But overall necron ships are easy to fight at the begining at chapter 5.

Iconoclast

I'm also using 2x archeotech plasma batteries if that means anything

that are not good. Triumph and Faith weapon batteries are good. Try to also get a good lance battery. And Janus torpedo tubes from Janus eldari event.
Also try to remember maneuverability is king , better lower speed and better maneuverability than otherwise.

I know that the heretic path gives some quite nasty effects to your weapons, and your ship if your not careful. I would imagine each of the other 2 paths also give buffs to your weapons. And or other ship weapons.

you can use the shield overload ability to do a chunk of damage to them after they heal themselves
they also tend to have less armour on the back of their ships

also warp surge and micro warp jump also helps. As I said maneuverability is king in this kind of battles.

So what cannons actually damage necron ships, every broadside dose 2 damage a hit? my voidsunder lance can consistently do 80+ damage and my torpedos melt the necron ships. I know I could use the all hands on deck ult but since ship ults don't seem to recharge with any reliability I don't want to use it and not have it if I face something worse.

your cannons have the lowest dmg per hit so they get reduced a lot harder by the ships armor, torpedos and frontal weapons will hit harder

2 damage a hit seems a bit severe though, my little escort buddy does about 10 per hit from his guns. The warp rotate is really good but since I'm basically spamming it its always on cooldown lol.

yeah i think if you examine the ships, most of them will have 1 side that has less armor/deflection but it can be tricky to reliably hit
