Why a Space Wolf?
I'm not saying that I dislike Space Wolves. But why did the devs pick a space wolf over say, a White Scar? Or a Dark Angel? Or maybe even something like a loyalist Alpha Legionnaire?
What was the design decision to have a Space Wolf over all the other legions to choose from.

they have their very own video game.
hence "almost," not that I intend to make a habit of defending jono.
lol,
Almost implies a minor mention to my jaded eyes...Not an entire game with nothing but them.
It would be like saying the Blood Ravens are almost the only SMC out there, just because they have a ton of appearances in video games.....
You are wise to not defend him/her/it.
Peace

To be fair, Space Wolves almost never show up in videogames.

I would have preffered on of the Emperor's Spears, which have a distinctive Celtic bent, and Druid Chaplains, but we gt what we get.

they have their very own video game.
How many games do Ultramarines have? Blood Ravens?

UM are my favourite chapter, but they have essentially become THE Space Marines, from how often they get represented in media.
Space Wolves, do not get a lot of air time.

I actually do not care for the UM, but they are The Space Marines, because of dumb assed Rob writing his dumb ass Codex Astartes.

Do not forget that Space Marine is UM, Space Marine 2 is same character.
UM are overly featured it is true. Blood Ravens were a thing to avoid any possible conflict with published Fluff or future Fluff.

I do not care for Space Wolves either. My tabletop war game armies are a full chapter of the Dark Angels-not counting the Primaris BS that caused all the SM armies to be absolutely obsolete without them.
Spent 25 years collecting that. Also have other armies, but that is my main one.
No chance that XC picks the Dark Angels.

Like I said, my favorite primary legion is the Blood Angels, absolutely. They've got such cool lore and themes, and the fact that they can simultaneously be some of the darkest and noblest space marines out there is really cool. Plus, they're vampires, and I love vampires. xD

That said, my favorite chapter is one of my own homebrews. It's really fun to make homebrew chapters.

Oh dear Emperor, i do not want to see a DA player with their unkillable Deathwing setups to talk about how primaris marines spoiled them anything.
Diomedes 2024 年 1 月 24 日 下午 4:24
Probably because Space Wolves are one of the most recognizable and popular of the Space Marine Chapters that are not Ultramarines.

Ultramarines are the posterchildren to Warhammer 40k.. And I'm not sure why Blood Ravens are brought up here, they were a original chapter that Relic made for their Dawn of War games. Who if I remember correctly, we don't know who they are successors of.

Because they got featured in multiple games, not even just the Dawn of War ones.

Space Wolves one game to them, and one character in this game. They are not very used in 40K media, to any significant extent, and as such retail novelty status.

I wanted to say - two games, but Warhammer 40,000: Space Wolf was closed and is no longer sold on Steam.
So yes, 1 game:

Honestly, a Black Templar would be better.
- more fitting for them to work for the Inquisition
- there would be more clear conflict of them how to treat XC (a BT would still BLAM him anyway).
- BT is a fleet-based chapter, so more insights in space combat and empire ruling.

Ulfar story barely fits into the game, I'm surprised they don't sprinkle in some Eldar just like every quests in the game.

This is one awesome game tho.

Too bad it seems the devs are no longer active.
I wish there's Sanctus Reach 2 AND Battlesector 2.
Harukage 2024 年 1 月 24 日 下午 4:48
That is objectively wrong. Dark Angels had the largest fleet among legions because their grandpa gave them a lot of ships as the first active legion. However all of it was split between numerous successor chapters.
The second largest fleet was held by Space Wolves legion, because Russ and Fenrisians had a boner for seafaring, and what is better than seafaring? Spacefaring. And it was only split once, with some of the ships returned back after Wolf Brothers chapter was disbanded. Each of their damned great company has their own fleet now. Hell, they are the only chapter with their own exclusive Navigator house tied to them.
Black Templars while having several crusades with their own fleets and more marines still have less ships overall. They got some ships from Imperial Fists and are know to requisition ships as their crusades move, but still not even close.
REhorror 2024 年 1 月 24 日 下午 4:51
Neither Dark Angels and Black Wolves are fleet-based chapters tho.

Black Templars are.

EDIT: They would also be more interesting on the religious angle, since the BT does worship the Emprah as a God, so the writer can't write them as atheist for the Emprah (despite it making no sense or whatever) like our dear brother Ulfar here.
