I keep messing up the fury in chains quest

Might help if you were more specific on where you messed up.

But basically you need to get the key from Tervantias, then converse with the big guy.
You don't use the key directly on the cage, you annoy Ulfar in conversation enough so he'll join you. Once he leaves the cage you can get his gear from the box next to the cage.

I never get the key, I give the monster parts to Tervantias but I never argue to release the marine so he leaves with him.

Also that guide says Yrel offers to help, she doesn't.

almost certainly.

I was shocked at how infrequently he used the word "wolf" when I spoke with him, but I assume that will change after I recruit him.
