Kill the two monsters at the bottom of the stairs then go down there and kill the ennemies as they come down.
Or just kill the trash in front of the boss so they don't get extra turns from the boss, then kill it.
Though if you can't do it on story mode I'd suggest taking a look at your party, and looking at some documentation online as to how to build a character to make it at least viable in story mode.

I think it really depends on luck in this battle. I had Ulfar, Yrliet, Argenta, Abelard and Idira.
Because Ulfars mechanic prevents him from using cover, he always got targeted first...
Space marine, Angel of the Emporer, Genetic modified super soldier in best armor and weapon humanity can remember to produce... tends to get "one shooted" by the poison salvo...
But after reloading a few times, I just positioned him right in the middle, which caused the dark elv leader to move to the side, to shoot him, killing 1 and harming another of her melee pawns.

I then used him simply asdistraction, and run down to the 2 abdominations bellow the stairs, While Abelard was distraction for the remaining melee pawn, Argenta and Yrliet with strategist zone skill, that makes them the lowest priority target, slowly deleted the abdominations, ariving pawns and then the boss.
I survived barely in the end, only Argenta and Yrliet where alive, as I started sacrificing every other team member, so the 2 can continue shooting.

I positioned my team to run down the stairs except for Ulfar who I positioned forward as a distraction carnifex. While he was getting shredded I killed the two grotesques at the bottom, healed up, and turned the stairwell into a killing field.

im thinking from everything im seeing online the fight is just broken. the entire act 3 seems way off. i dont even have access to my companions. i just have eldar girl, jae , irdra, the druhkari , space marine, paschel and argenta. no idea where everyone else is dead maybe. up until this fight i had game set to daring and had no issues. so i dont think is so much a build problem or a "get good" issue. fights seems genuinely busted

You only get access to the people you got kidnapped with, the fights hard but you can beat it by making a funnel with the stairs, use the space marine as your front line, have him use his chainsword he almost always parrys the incubus attacks this also makes the archon shoot her own men. Use the rest of your team to pick off targets and span support abilities

im seeing the run back downstairs strat all over ill try that next. cause them damn turrets also giving me a headache. if that doesnt work im putting this game down till the enhanced edition comes out

Trying to run downstairs was in my tryouts a death trap, as the poison volley might kills 2 or 3 of your people and then the whole acid attacks starts.
Because nearly every enemy acts before you, you cant really reposition yourself down of the stairs, additionally, the reinforcements that arive will get stronger, if you need to much time.
At first they are easy one shot kills, but later they become dark elv melee pawns.

You mean the final boss at comorrah? its a fairly straight forward fight, your fighters and ulfar should be able to contain the incubus while a Sniper should easily dispatch the enemies.
That boss had the nasty habit of triggering an extra turn once damaged, so what I did is taking out the rest of its henchmen and once the battlefield was cleared I concentrated all efforts on the boss.

@Gastberend you say that but theres a 100 reddits about how broken this fight is. from my own experience the game was pretty standard until this fight.
Bring Cassia along. Watch her dodge tank everything if you have built her right.

Yeah but like... I beat it in less than 3 full rounds (on Normal, to be fair)? Just kept stacking buffs on my MC with a Plasma and killed the mooks (I was 2 shotting the Grotesques for the most part). By the time I actually focused on her she only took like 3 or 4 shots to drop, including the self heal to full HP part. I sat at the top platform and barely moved, except for Abelard running around and parrying everything.

I let the ugly monstrosities aside, ran upstairs, packed the Incubii and the boss with Cassia ( Point of curiosity), weakened them with Waking Nightmare, stunned them with Lidless Stare , and let Argenta unleash hell on them with her Heroic plus another Heroic turn from Jae... Boss Stage 1 went down in the middle of a Hv Bolter burst and the Stage 2 took 1/3 of Wounds with the rest lol
Neither Incubi nor the boss herself never acted...
Was pretty simple to finish her and the turrets shut down then, end of Turn 2 and a part of Turn 3 were dedicated to the remaining monstrosities

Only Yrliet went down as she didn't succeed dodges vs the monsters attacks, rest of the team barely took a scratch

Daring difficulty
Yes Cassia is broken OP

running downstairs worked!! the boss ran down there solo and i was able to surround her making her heals useless. tho irda f'in killed herself and summoned a deamon on top of us after doing 2 buffs
