Wasteland Wayfarer mission bugged?

So I landed on the mission for wasteland wayfarer and got to the part where we got attacked by the genestealers except they never actually attacked me? The genestealer kept trying to escape instead of attacking me and everytime I killed one the game would just spawn another with no animation???? by the third or fourth time I killed the genestealer they stopped spawning and combat just ended and I could leave. Is that supposed to be the entire mission or did I ♥♥♥♥ something up because im genuinely confused.

The running away is weird, but the rest of it is what I experienced, There is no cutscene for the 3 extra genestealers that spawn

Im just confused because I expected there to be some ambush or conclusion to the whole thing instead of me awkwardly chasing the retreating genestealers (they didnt even attack or cast an ability once)

you are lucky, they are coming after me if they saw me. i think the idea is that genesteel at that point should be too strong to the players, and the players should use the doors and lay out of the ship to escape the genestealers with mininal combat
