Killing Blow and the escape

This errand doesn't seem to trigger, and I've done just about everything, up to and including having the rest of my crew take care of the mobs while Marzipan took on the ... whatever her name is? by himself. And he still doesn't seem to get the killing blow! What am I missing or is this a bug?

If it's a bug, what flag or etude do I need to trip to make it trigger?

Also, I go through the gate, get back to realspace and my crew... and the quest says 'naw dawg, you failed that quest'

i wasn't able to get it to work either. I tried all the same stuff.

first i killed her with a skill. Then i made sure it was with just a regular melee weapon attack.
then i killed all the adds first. Then i made sure the extra adds spawned in and killed them first (killing her with a just regular melee attack every time). Then i tried just a ranged weapon attack. Then i went back to an older save and tried not rescuing the farseer.

... and then i gave up and just accepted that its unable to be completed.

So I did some digging, and apparently as long as he gets the last blow, it counts. You can, as far as I can tell, see this when you have the conversation immediately afterwards where he puts her soul in a box.
