I assume that if you make different choices there will be different results, but I haven't encountered that particular event. In the case of at least some other events, the outcome does differ based on your choices.

i just back from kiava gamma and then i got an event that janus raid by wraiths and i have lost 15PF. i'm clueless how it happened and how to prevent it. there's no indicator or whatsoever.

You're only supposed to lose 1-3, depending on event. One of the recent patches (1.0.88 maybe) broke it though
Ah, it might be a colony random event. I haven't seen that one, but I've seen one that gives -4 to each of the colony ratings. As far as I know there's no way to avoid those.

My assumption is that they are intended to apply pressure to you to focus on the main plot, because the longer you dawdle the more big hits like that you will suffer.

However, -15 PF seems crazy high for a penalty you can't avoid. I have heard people say that by the end of the game you have more PF than you need, but in the middle of the game getting hit with -15 PF is massive.

If we're talking about Eldar Wraiths here I would assume if you're friendly with the Eldar you won't have wraith problems.

yes 15PF is very huge for me especially i'm just on act 2 :(.

@Xartax How do i be friendly with the Eldar? i'm not sure where and how i did wrong and to get -15PF is very severe. Edit: upon checking again it mentioned ghostly xenos that attacks agricultural facility at night. seems like no way for me to avoid. i tried reloading earlier saves. it's same

It depends on your security score for the colony. You can also mitigate it through the 2 Eldar companion options when addressing it.

The only (possibly) friendly eldar are in chapter 4. If you mean by friendly they don't start to shoot immediately and call you a stupid monkey instead.

The highest drop in PF for me was 9, and that must have been a bug. The project Bastion says it costs -5, but in the balance sheet it showed up as -9.

i only have yrliet as i'm still on act 2. i think im on end of act 2 now. before the xenodefense colony project, my security is already at 6 though. i'm not sure how the eldar companions can address it. edit: so upon checking the PF history, it saids Resource Shortage: Xenotech -15

You can side with the Eldar during your first adventure on Janus. Which makes them friendly and you see them again helping you during your return from act 3, etc.

I have no idea if it has an impact on these events, though. But I never had them and the Eldar were friendly with me.

maybe it has nothing to do with eldar? i checked again via a reload it mentioned: ghostly xenos that attacks agricultural facility at night.

are xenos and eldar the same? sorry i'm not familiar with warhammer lore.

Xenos just means alien. Eldar are Xenos, but there are other xenos too.

Eldar have constructs called Wraiths. And we know there are Eldar on Janus.

This might be related to the colony story event where ghosts from the past described as balls of light are reawakening and fighting an old war on the planet. If you have the Eldar companions Yrliet tells you to help the white ghosts and the Drukhari tells you to help the black ghosts or similar and you can resolve it with a reward. The profit loss may come from having a low security level on the planet as I didnt suffer any PF loss.

I had no xeno companions (anymore) and had only the option to fire on both ghost armies. Seems to have worked reading the postings above.

well you can be really lucky and have a major bug happen that literally grants you 3k in Chapter 4... all i did was finish the tier 5 project on Kiava gamma >.>
