Where are the builds at?
Ok I apologize, but I don't build my own magic decks, and I don't build my own owlcat characters....

Does anyone know of a digital repository of interesting builds?

I have seen some YouTube videos, but I really need to read the build, written down.... and not have to watch a whole video.

Not finding a good site with good builds anywhere.

Too soon, and writing down a meaningful build takes a while.

What you want in principle is:
- movement abilities like the +2 move or ramming speed on a warrior
- anything increasing hitpoints (e.g. It won't die)
- stuff that reduces the AP cost (like the free Expose Weakness)
- stuff that adds actions or even whole rounds (e.g. Bring it down)
- stuff that increases momentum to enable ultimates (e.g. Hymn of war or Argenta's version, Word of the Emperor))
- when picking weapons you go by the total average damage; a gun doing 1x 25-35 is weaker than one doing 4x 11-15

Take note that many builds use an exploit, that sooner or later will be patched out. Once that happens all the grand 20k-damage-in-one-round wonders are dead. So either finish before that happens or you learn to do it properly :)

About skills:
Decide who will train what skills. This will be mostly dictated by what skills a class can raise and where the higher stats are. Most skill checks are done by the best in group, but not all. The reason being that not all are in the group when you need them. The important skills are:
- awareness (to find mines and traps or clues)
- tech-use (acts as lockpicking)
- logic (acts as lockpicking and computerskill)
- persuasion/coercion (dialogue options)
- athletics (to get across occasional barriers and chasms)
- xeno-lore (acts as disable traps for xeno-traps)

You may want to use xeno weapons, especially in and after chapter 3. To be able to do so you must have:
- base skill: xeno-lore
- proficiency with drukhari and/or aeldari weapons (level 22 required); the few aeldari weapons that are OK are not worth it imho

About psykers:
Don't expect anything from them except buffs and debuffs, their damage is abysmal. You need an exploit to deal any damage with them, and by the time they are powered up your side is probably dead. Or Argenta won the fight 4 rounds ago.

I tried doing builds, but that was a waste of time because they never got a turn. Cassia killed everything first.

i have a bit more fun discovering them myself in all honesty. however, some guides helped me a bit but mostly i figure out myself. it's satisifying. but it does take quite some time as there are dozens of these talents which you need to piece together.

Thanks for the general write up. At least it is some guidance. There are so many options.

A thing I found helpful also was the filters for the level up abilities. ie defensive offensive warp etc. That helps focus looking at the things you are trying to accomplish.

1. Argenta - rapid fire heavy gunner.
2. Cassia - willpower mover & starer of daemons/xenos/anything you want to hurt
3. Yrliet - assassin sniper aiming everything on percentage hp hit and opening & lethality.
4. Pascal - debuffer and plasma shooter
5. Abelard - tank that can shoot melta gun and forces everyone to run to cover

That's kind of my builds so far.

Of all the games that need an online character builder, this is near the top of the list.

I'm like you. I prefer having a written *something* to base ideas around... I've gotten to the point that I just take notes while I watch.

Neoseeker has some interesting build ideas.

Loop up CRPGBro on youtube. He has quite a few decent build guides on his channel.
just looking to read guides, not watch videos.

I find that youtube.com/@cRPGBro have some great builds for some of the characters, not using all of them myself but the ones I do been much stronger than I personally could ever build.
I understand the majority of builds seem to be videos right now, however I am looking for guides to read not watch.

I guess written guides are becoming niche, much like non mobile gaming.

I believe that writing something useful about a large and complex system takes a while and few people do it in the first place.
Most of the lazies just make a video. And they are like the CAD tutorial videos in our company: very useless. When you need the in and out of a specific command you don't want to see a 2 hour video (which may or may not have the information), you need an indexed manual.

But I think someone will write it up, just not a few weeks after it's release.
Then I am jealous of the gamers living in the future who have written guides to read.

There's a way the devs wanted people to play and a way players play

I wouldn't agree upon picking sworn enemy at start of the game since you don't have taunt.

Instead I would choose forceful strike to have a way to move the enemy around like into the breach you can push enemies into each other and cause damage.

Point blank for soldier is the only unigue ability who isn't mentioned.

pyromancy is a good start with access to melting armour and increase psi rating which will make sense later on.

Idira has( weak body, weak soul )which doesn't take an action to activate and why waking nightmare from cassia isn't needed. Cassia has two talents who convert stats , mind over matter, pass unscratched.

both Argenta and cassia should have around 105% dodge at the start of the game. Keep up the stacking of stats.

Argenta is a cleric , not that it matter much since she doesn't have much willpower.

operative uses intelligence for damage with Tactical knowledge talent.

If I have to say it the list with talents is a chore and there's no search engine or ABC to find them.

Certain information is more readily shared through a written guide. Lists of best skills and the like rather than watching game footage someone clicking them one after another, videos are good for visual things, ie fixing things with parts, showing where on the map is important (picture is probably even better though).

One thing that the written guide can't do, is give you Youtube views which for some can translate into dollars.
