as a strategist can i change the lines?
it is so freaking anoying trying to use frontline, backline, and reare skill.
IKNOW THEY CHAN CHANGE THE WAY THEY ARE LINED:... cause as i move the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ mouse round it does change...
But here i am with 3 caracters in a line, No wall, no obsticle .. and still that damn skill dont want to take all 3 of them, just two.. cause its from "up down" instead from right to left..
but move it away,, where its even obsticles in the way,, and it goes to the shape i need it to be.. wtf is up with that.

Yes, you can.
I'm not sure if I should make a guide for this, but basically the zones become horizontal if it's ahead/behind you, and they are vertical if they are left/right of you.

yeah the zones are very very annoying - to the point that I'll probably just skip GS on future playthroughs...

you need to use your movement points as a GS to position your character as a kind-of cursor. It's clunky, but there you have it.

If you want a line that your character is part of then you 1) move, 2) place the area, 3) move back to where you were.

I found myself typically not bothering with all three in most cases. I'd throw down frontline and rear, because often the number of backline positions where the group could make effective use of cover and still be close enough to the fight wasn't that many, and where it was I was more interested in the damage boost from rear.

It is another inclusion in the released game version, which wasn't testet in the Alpha or Beta.
No wonder it works cumbersome.

well that was not really my question...
i already said "they change by their own Will as i move the mouse round".. wich you then state is the way to move them round..

I ment more if i can choice what I WANT it to be.
they are totaly Useless to use as a "tactical" way when you cant use them tactical cause every time 2 or 3 of my caracters is outside of the zone, only because the zone itself decides to ♥♥♥♥ me over by pointing the wrong ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ way lol..

I honestly just use the Frontline on repeated play. Frontline is a square so there's no need to go back and forth. That alone is enough as a massive buff.
There's a strategem that BOOSTS using only 1 zone, so I think the devs intend this to be a playstyle.

my problem dont seem to be the same as yours... for me its ither up to down or side to side. depending on where on the "battle map" you are. it doesnt mather if my caracters are there before or after.. The MAP decides.. and whatever i do with my caracters,, the map is still 100% the same... most of the time they go from side to side in the middle of the map or behind the enemy. and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ up to down as if i was standing in a food line when i try to put it where my caracters starts or a little ahead of them.. Totaly ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ pointless when most cover goes from side to side.

I use the Rear for the sniper/s. Don't need anything else. Everything just melts.

GS is fine. I just needs a very simple upgrade: give it a Q to rotate left and R to rotate right and it'll be perfect.

The back line has a massive power up to reduce attacks cost by 1 AP. That lets the Argenta's of the world get in extra burst attacks.

For now: top tip for at least one of your zones -- since your GS person always goes first, don't place that GS character exactly where you want them behind cover to start a battle. Put them 1-2 spaces away from that cover so that you can fashion the ideal rear/back zone and then just have them walk into that zone as part of their first turn. (That's a way to sort out the orientation problem.)

aah will keep it in mind, thanks man..

ive done over 6 missions and my profit factor is still at 14...
now i come to a new place where there is new stuff to buy, just the second part is 16.. and i seem to be stuck at 14. doing missions dont seem to increase it.. so i cant buy anything.

GS is too good not to have one, even with the clunky zones. Which will hopefully get a form of rotation with a patch, since now we can't.

@BlackViper
Not to disappoint you, but most of the good gear is not in the shops. You get it as loot, quest rewards or even colony projects. Also, you cannot max them out to get at the top tier stuff. One, yes, besides the navy, possibly two, if you do all the colony faction projects and get the faction quest rewards (some of which are not visible until after the fact). All four? Nope.
