By the time I finished chapter 2 I had close 7-10 in all colony stats for most colonies.
Since some projects lock out other projects or require projects in other colonies to be completed, you're really forced to carefully look at everything and plan ahead. Its better to wait for something you really want until you qualify than take another option that locks you out of what you want.
Keep in mind that every time a colony unlocks the next tier, you get a story thing where you need to make a choice. Some of those choices can affect your colony stats, give items, or give you or your team permanent talents.
The only thing you dont need to worry about is your choices on the first three tiers locking you out of the projects you cant see yet on Tier 4/5.
b) Some buildings affect ALL your colonies.
c) Following main story - you will able to pick 2 companions on your coronation on Dargonus. They're providing buffs to all colonies (each have it's own buff).
Sadly now I have to figure out how to get more Navigator Points >.>
b) Very-very rarely during quests
c) Rarely - an events during travelling around orange-red routes.
Yes, desire to raise all routes to green ones is a big fat trap :)
