Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader

Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader

Reading Text or Listening to Dialogue?
Pondering purchasing, just wanted steer whether this game involves reading lots of text or whether all dialogue has audio?

Not a huge fan of copious amounts of reading in games during character interactions so hoping the latter and all dialogue has audio. Tend to find a more immersive experience as well.

Thanks in advance

Tons and tons and TONS of reading. Do not buy if you do not like reading pages of text on screen. Very little uses voice recordings.

It's a massive amount of reading.

Not a lot of it has voice. As an example, the big final showdown of the entire game has zero voice acting for the entire conversation.

If you don't want to read you'll have zero understanding of what's going on. You might want to find a different game tbh.

Don't play CRPG's if you don't like to read.
This is interesting point. Growing number of C64 gamers tend to have eye sight issues.
Thanks all for your comments confirming the landscape.

I do really like the setting so will ponder some more, at least I appreciate now if I go for.

Thanks for sharing this mod Schlumpsha, have you used yourself and if so how did you find?

I notice the link appears external, is not available within the mods for this game in steam? (if the game allows mods that is)

And yet I somehow doubt it’s my generation complaining about the reading

Well, this is really sad, reading was always a big part of actual RPGs, these Main Stream RPGs like BG3 are simply more Action then actual RPG, once people wrote that their head started hurting after reading for 30 minutes, it is simply sad, as true RPGs are dyieng out making place for Main Stream Games, that simply miss the deep RPG immersion.

Maybe it is a Generation thing, dont know.

You remember the old AD&D games? Curse of the Azure Bonds and such? Where you had to read Journal Entries in the printed Handbook?

=D

I dont even know if youre trolling. BG3 is certainly not mainstream(action rpg? did you even play it?), nobody thought itd be such a success. That would prolly be Starfield, Fallout, Mass Effect etc.
Also whats bad about voice acting? I never heard it takes away from the immersion, most definitely the opposite. And you better believe we wouldve had fully voiced rpgs back in the day if that wasnt pretty expensive on that scale and also way to big for disks and cds.
You sound way to nostalgic, try BG3, Divinity, the Pathfinder games, Wasteland3, there have been a ton of great old school rpgs in the past few years.
