Next for Owlcat: Star Wars RPG

A suggestion for the next project for owlcat: Star Wars RPG! :) Owlcat should consider to make a Star Wars roleplaying game as their next project. There is a rule system from Wizards of the Coast (the D&D makers) and one from Fantasy Flight Games.

So owlcat proofed with Rogue Trader that it can do SciFi rpgs. The consequence is that they should now tackle the elephant in the room: Star Wars. How about a typical owlcat style RPG about a group of outer rim smugglers or rebels against the empire? That would be marvellous and highly profitable too I guess!

Given the studio's Origin and Current World events a modern adaptation of Twilight 2000 might work.

It would be somewhat nice if it was not tied to tabletop by rules, original IP or continuation of dead franchises. Rage of Mages/Allods or Evil Islands would be nice, in particular stealth approach of Evil Islands with its free limb targetting, crafting system and unique character progression.

i second this , -
a rag tag group of people / races / aliens, bounty hunter, smuggler , jedi on pilgrimage - rogue sith .. grey jedi .. soldier . pirate and so on .-

upgrade able ship , with many choices of a base form ..
maybe a choice of a base , with hangar on 5 different worlds " you chose where ,.but only 1 " ..


on a daring ship adventure to explore the star wars universe , with possible of skirting the edge at unknown galaxy .. and by then end , discover a threat , where you have a choice of handing the info to rebel , empire .. or both ., / 3rd option of sort

yeah, rough idea , first thing that came to mind - i could write a hole script if needed and properly will here afterwards, now that idea is in my head ..but

star wars is overrated and the current statement of it , is dead for me .. big shame ..but spark of life to it .. more so the old republic era , i can see that still be the case .. with the right team .. no modern day influence in to it .. then maybe ,,

Weirdly enough, I had a similar thought while playing. As for "no Star Wars!" - wait, there is a really cool Star Wars PnP RPG called "Edge of the Empire" which is just about the fringe worlds and the scoundrels without the typical Jedi stuff. Incidentally it is also from FFG, who also made the last incarnation of the Rogue Trader PnP, which the Owlcat game seems very close to.

Next for Owlcat: Fix the game, improve polish, add content (bigger ships), AT LEAST for a year, then plan :)

I can not imagine Disney being able to let anyone make an awesome tactical RPG without some idiot exec striding all over it and making it the worst experience ever.

But I definitely want more games with RT's combat system. Gimme something involving Necrons :P

Yeah its difficult today to be in a positive mood for Disneys Star Wars with all its destroying wokeness. But Owlcat seems to have a good relationship to FFG which had the rights to Star Wars and Games Workshop rpgs a couple of years ago. So maybe there are chances to get a good old adventure rpg like in FFGs Edge of the Empire. FFG had even a nice rule system for their Star Wars rpgs which owlcat could use. As the movies tells us there is always "A new hope" :)
