If we can play as a Space Bishop, why not add the option to create an Ad Mech character? (Especially since we can already specify a Forge World origin.)

Honestly I think it's because the Mechanicus is really self contained. It's not REALLY part of the Imperium in the same way the rest of humanity is. It's more like an allied state that's heavily integrated into the Imperium.

AdMech have their own ships. Often bigger and better. The developers wanted to give us a very specific ship; thus, you can't be an AdMech from narrative point.

It simply doesn't fit the lore to have a techpriest become a rogue trader, just as it wouldn't make sense for a space marine to become a rogue trader. That's why it's not an option.

Rolling a Heretek character from the ranks of the Dark Mechanicum seems more plausible as far as the plot goes. Plus we get to pick up a plethora of heretech for our voidship.

In terms of landing the job out right I would agree that being a RT as a tech priest impossible , but if you where an heir that understood the weakness of the flesh and happened to be the last surviving member on the ship (which happens ingame) its either appoint the toaster worshiper until a replacement relative can be found or tell everyone on the Voidship that there unemployed until Rowboat appoints a new dynasty to take your place.
