Wish Cassia would suck in combat. But Owlcat was known for poor character writing.
What do you mean by "tank"? What is it? How it's ever possible without cheats?
I'm speaking about "tanks" in RT have low initiative so being useless - you're either waste damage (extra turns) on them or they do nothing useful as having turn after all dangerous enemies.
1. Idira. All "game-experts" online put her on the bottom of all lists but that is straight ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. She's damn op. She destroys. She bangs. She fugs. I had a fight in Act 4 where she killed 14 (yes 14) fat guys with a single 500+ dmg psy-boink. Combining her with 2 officers in late game can finish most of the fights in just one or two moves. And the fact that before you buff her stats enough for her to become a nuclear power beast she might just ♥♥♥♥ up the warp roulette and die just makes her gameplay even more fun lol.
2. Cassia for buffs and warp reducing
3-4. Any 2 tanks for pulling aggro and being a provoker-♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ duo. I was playing as an officer-vanguard so in my case it was usually me and Heinrix.
5. Yrliet for debuffs and critical hits
6. Pasqal or Argenta for AOE and defusing/lockpicking
Abelard is cool, I like him, he's a buddy but sure not complex or inspired and wtf was his Act 4 companion quest except for lame.
I think Ulfar is the biggest let down...
Sadly he don't have a lot of banter and annoying to use in combat (tend to stuck all around).
Then maybe Space Wolfs are just boring, idk, I was never a fan of any Space Marine except maybe Grey Knights x)
Overall though, I found RT companions to be significant step down compared to both Kingmaker and WotR.
Liked:
- Argenta - She's complete zealot and someone best kept as far away from Rogue Trader, but that's exactly what makes her fun to have around.
- Pasqal - Best friend material right there. Walks a thin line between heretical and dogmatic (so basically proper Adeptus Mechanicus "person"), but has fair few great choices.
- Idira - She's insane. She's a risk. But she is also loyal and has great insight. Her bickering with Inquisitor boy gives her bonus points in my book.
- Cassia - By the Golden Throne, what an elitist ♥♥♥♥. Evacuation conversation: "There must be a shuttle waiting for Lord Captain. Surely the commoners know their place in evacuation order". And that's just one example. She's a noble through and through and I love her for it.
Indifferent:
- Abelard - He's fine. He's got interesting debate of service to RT or spending more time with family on Dargonus. But he's also bland.
- Heinrix - Hello there mr. Inquisitor. I don't like him too much. Too pompous for my taste.
Disliked:
- Yrliet - This is such a disappointing one. Act 3 and resolution of that whole storyline ruined her for me. So disappointing.
- Wulf-marine - Bleh. I would have preferred stoic, silent, no-nonsense SM over loud, obnoxious and annoying viking. Don't think he'll be seeing any mission time in my playthroughs.
- Jae - She's just a stereotypical coquettish thief. Was far bottom on my "could be romanced" list 5 minutes after she was introduced. Unfortunately, spending time with her didn't improve her at all. Quite the contrary, she just sealed the deal on how uninteresting she is.
Didn't get secret companion nor do I even plan to, not even on heretical run. That person is either getting shot by his boss during cutscene, or by me during fight scene. Will never get to live.
